If you would have told me a year ago that I would be spending my birthday alone in my apartment, I probably wouldn’t have handled the news very well. If you would have added that it would be in the middle of a global pandemic, I probably would have laughed in your face.

My birthday is tomorrow.

All things considered, it won’t be the worst birthday I’ve ever had. One year, one of my friends at the time made me cry because I refused to let the guy she just started hooking up with come to my apartment without meeting him first. Another year, I got broken up with nearly a week to the day.

My mom offered to bake me my favorite cake (peanut butter chocolate), but I told her she didn’t have to feel obligated.

In all honesty, I’m really looking forward to a quiet day alone with my cat.

I’m really not one for parties anyway.
