Meet Beth Warner- this week’s Campus Celeb and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences representative on the 2015 Crimson Court!
Not only is Beth one of the best editors Her Campus IUP has seen, but she is a kind and positive person whose infectious energy brightens the days of those around her! In just one day, that can be a lot of people, considering how active Beth is on IUP’s campus. As a senior, English Education major, Beth has has improved the experience of many IUP students during her four years here. Previous Vice President of the National Council of Teachers of English, Beth continues to be active within the English Education department and is known to have the answer to program-related questions among her classmates.
Beth is also a member of the Cook Honors College and began her career as a Community Assistant in Whitmyre Hall before moving to Wallwork this year. Beth’s commitment to her residents’ safety and happiness makes her a favorite among on-campus students. Beth encourages IUP’s residents to “step outside their comfort zones” when it comes to meeting new people and trying new things within the residence halls.
Additionally, Beth was one of the first members of IUP’s Diversity Peer Educator program through the Office of Social Equity. In her role as a Diversity Peer and the current Student Coordinator of the program, Beth engages in facilitations regarding issues of social justice with IUP student organizations and departments. The work Beth does as a DPE is indicative of her future in urban education, where she hopes to diminish the disparity of educational inequity for all students. Beth hopes to live this dream in Memphis, Tennessee, after falling in love with the community and its students two summers ago during an internship experience.
