The Best Parts of Thanksgiving

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at IUP chapter.

Thanksgiving is hands down one of the best holidays of the entire year. Don’t fight me on this. An entire day dedicated to eating and acknowledging what you’re thankful for? Heck yeah! And if you’re like me, Thanksgiving also means the first break from school since the semester started. Here are the six best parts of Thanksgiving!

1. Family!

This can be hit or miss, but for those who know it as a hit know that the quality time spent with your family is priceless. My family is huge, so when we get together there are a lot of laughs!

2. Friends!

My closest friends from home all do different things, so the one time we are all in the same place is around the holidays! Thanksgiving allows for some serious time to catch up and gossip.

3. Sleep!

I have not had a good night’s rest since the beginning of August. Being at school is basically a constant state of exhaustion on various levels; however, going home means hours and hours of uninterrupted sleep.

4. Pets!

When you’re away at college, you miss your pets more than you will willing let someone know. A week of hanging out with my dogs (literally) does my heart good.

5. Turning off your alarms.

This goes along with sleep, but we all know that feeling of satisfaction when we get to turn off our alarms.

6. Food!

I love Thanksgiving. I love Thanksgiving food. I love that I can eat Thanksgiving leftovers.

Thanksgiving is such a wonderful time of year; I hope you enjoy yours and remember what truly matters.
