Consent is the first and most important thing both people need before anything happens, whether that’s kissing or having sex. When someone says no, it means no. Even a slurred yes doesn’t necessarily mean yes, and sometimes body language alone is enough to mean no. However, if someone isn’t taking the hint, there are plenty of variations of how to say no, and here are 11 of them.

1. “I’m not interested”

2. “When pigs fly”

3. “Aint nobody got time for that”

4. “Talk to the hand”

5. “Sh sh sh shut your mouth”

6. “Sorry not sorry”

7. “I’m uncomfortable”

8. “As if”

9. “I’m too young for you, bro”

10. “It’s a no from me”

11. “I better not”

My name is Mary Romeo, and I'm a junior at Indiana University of Pennsylvania majoring in communications media, and minoring in journalism. I have a passion for reading and writing. Not only do I contribute to HerCampus but I am also the lead writer for the school newspaper, The Penn. I also write and perform my own segments on the IUP-TV show, Witticism, where I give my best (sarcastic) advice to those in need. You may also see as an anchor for the IUP NewsCenter. I hope to one day write and possibly make a 30 second appearance in film or television.
