15 Places to Visit in New Orleans, LA!

Restaurants:

  1. Cafe du Monde: Cafe du Monde has world-famous beignets that I can personally tell you are absolutely delicious! Pro tip: if you are at the one in NOLA, don’t wait in either of the lines. One is for the bathroom, the other is for takeout. Just find an empty table and sit down!
  2. Jack Rose: I tried a staple dish of the South here: chicken and waffles. When I tell you I had the best waffle and best chicken of my entire life, I mean it. The restaurant has a fun, fancy ambiance, and the food is fantastic!
  3. Hard Rock Cafe New Orleans: I LOVE going to Hard Rock, and this one didn’t disappoint.
  4. Antoine’s Restaurant: This is one of the oldest restaurants in New Orleans, and the food was great. It has a fantastic dessert called Baked Alaska, which is a cake filled with ice cream and drizzled with whipped cream and hot fudge!
  5. Lux Cafe: This was an adorable brunch spot with a bunch of fun drinks!

Tourist stops:

  1. William Faulkner Books: This is the actual home of author William Faulkner, and it has been transformed into a cute little bookstore! It sells some of William Faulkner’s books, but also books and poetry from other authors as well. It’s super small, so only six people are allowed in at a time.
  2. Royal Sonesta Hotel: In the lobby of this hotel, there is a little vending machine where you can get small paintings! There are four available options, and it’s $1.01 to get them. They’re about the size of a Polaroid! The four painting options are of the hotel itself, oysters, a jazz band, and an alligator dressed in a band uniform! (I got all of them, of course)
  3. Frenchmen Street
  • Frenchmen Art Bazaar open 6 pm-midnight: At the art bazaar, you can check out art vendors and support their work by buying some! There are a bunch of vendors, including ones selling their paintings, jewelry, woodworking, and more!
  • Frenchmen Street Art and Books: A tiny bookstore featuring both new and used books, and postcards!
  1. Crescent City Books: Another fun bookstore, featuring a lot of first editions and classics.
  2. Bourbon Street: Notoriously the drinking capital of NOLA, Bourbon Street features some of the best bars in New Orleans! It also has a lot of cute little gift shops!
  3.  Canal Street: One of the main streets in New Orleans, Canal Street has fun restaurants, gift shops, and hotels!
  4. Museum of Illusions: This museum has some truly crazy illusions!
  5. St. Louis Cathedral: Unfortunately, we weren’t able to go inside, but it’s a great work of architecture and a picture spot!
  6. Bottom of the Cup Tea Room: This tea room features psychic readings of tarot and tea leaves!
  7. World War II Museum: This museum is actually one of the biggest tourist attractions in NOLA!
