Valentine’s Day Recipes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at IU chapter.

There are many things we appreciate in life, but good food definitely ranks as number one. And though Valentine’s Day is a day dedicated to love, we all know where the true devotion lies. Food is the key to our hearts. It will always be there for us, whether we are sad and single or happy in a relationship. Whoever said love is the greatest thing in world is seriously disturbed. Let’s be honest, food is BAE.

Valentine’s Day means either of two things. It’s a day to spend with a significant other or it’s a day to throw a pity party with all your single friends. Any which way, good food is necessary for a good time.

Nothing screams Valentine’s Day more than baked goods. So here are a few recipes that are guaranteed to blow your mind, and maybe help you forget that you don’t have a valentine.

If you are making cookies, they’d better be heart-shaped. And have frosting….and sprinkles.

I’m always a fan of M&Ms, especially if they are pink, pretty, and on a brownie.

These cupcakes might be the cutest thing since Blue Ivy.

Red Velvet? Check. Frosting? Check. Nutella? HELL YEAH CHECK.

I think it’s proven that pancakes can be served any time of day.

If homemade Rice Krispie treats don’t bring back feelings of nostalgia, did you even have a childhood?

And lastly, the ultimate treat that’ll transport you back to fifth grade: Pillsbury sugar cookies. These things were around at every elementary school Valentine’s Day party. If you were the kid who brought these, it was obvious your mom forgot and made them last minute.

So while Valentine’s Day may depressing, at least it’s an excuse to eat like crap for a day. Calories don’t count on holidays, right?
