School’s back in session, there’s a chill in the air and everyone is dedicating their Saturdays to football. This means one thing: fall is on its way. With the air getting a little more chillier, that minishirt and tubetop are looking a little less appealing. Here are some tips on how to dress as fall is approaching so you don’t look like you are still summer dreamin’ as you walk across campus.

Wear Leggings Correctly. Collegiates™: Leggings were made to embellish an outfit, not be the outfit. This means that leggings are not to be worn as pants! So unless you are headed to the gym, keep the leggings under a shirt, skirt or dress that falls past your finger tips.

RIP Flip flops.  Don’t be that girl who catches frostbite on her feet after walking home from a day of football & tailgating in flip flops. Don’t be afraid to pack away your flip flops until the spring. They aren’t going anywhere. Try wearing a pair of high boots or flats instead.

Follow the rules of white. It’s officially after Labor Day, which means it’s time to put away the white. Instead bring out the fresh, crisp colors that come along with autumn: browns, yellows, reds, dark purples and oranges. There are exceptions: if you happen to have a white long-sleeved t-shirt or sweater, bring it out and pair it with a crisped-colored scarf or hat.

Live on the wild side. Add a touch of zebra or leopard print to your outfit such as a scarf, purse or shoes. Beware:  Less is more, remember, you are not the queen of the jungle.

Peacoats, peacoats, peacoats!
Fall is the season of the peacoat. They are sexy and perfect for a fall breeze or rainy day. Pick one up in dark brown or deep red and pair with high boots and leggings and you will be able to take on whatever autumn throws at you.

Omg! What do I do with my t-shirts, skirts and dresses from the summer? Glad you asked. You don’t have to say goodbye to all your summer clothes. The trick has to do with layering. Try wearing a thin, long-sleeved shirt underneath your t-shirts. You can also wear leggings underneath your summer dresses and skirts. Pair these with flats or boots and you will look utterly fabulous!
