Top 5 Coffee Shops Around IU’s Campus

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at IU chapter.

This weather has got us craving one thing: coffee (and sleep… so I guess two things!) Grab a good book and your chicest hipster glasses and head to one of these coffee shops for a little rest and relaxation!

The Copper Cup:
Conveniently located down Jordan Avenue, kiddy corner from the Jacobs Music School, The Copper Cup is in a prime location for all you music junkies. Finishing up in the practice room? Head over to this cute coffee shop to perk up your day.

With everything on the menu ranging from ten dollars and under, it’s a great stop for college students on a budget. Need to get work done? This prime shop even offers free Wi-Fi! Tis the season to start warming up inside, and TCC has several fall flavors to remind you of your favorite season. We recommend the Fireside Hot Cocoa, which is flavored with cinnamon!

Soma Coffee:
Looking for something other than your ordinary cream and sugar coffee? Soma provides its patrons with exciting flavors particular to their shop. Whether you’re a Cherry Garcia Girl, or a Lewinsky Lady, (Caramel, coconut and vanilla coffee!), any collegiette can find a drink suited to her tastes! Not a coffee drinker? No problem!

Soma provides an extensive smoothie menu as well. Stray away from the familiar Strawberry Banana and opt for a Banana Colada instead. At Soma, even the baked goods menu contains a few out of the ordinary treats. Next time your stomach is grumbling as you saunter down Kirkwood, pop into Soma for a Maple Chocolate Chip Cookie, or try a slice of the Zucchini Bread!

Runcible Spoon:
Runcible Spoon is hands down the most whimsical of coffee shops. The name itself is derived from the children’s story featuring an owl and cat, centered around love, nature, and adventure. This careless feeling translates to the shop itself has even been featured for its unique bathroom!

Boasting B-town’s only coffee roaster, RS prides itself on its beverages! If you order something to eat during your stay, you are granted free coffee refills. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus make this a viable option. Located on East 6th Street, Runcible Spoon is not far from campus and is worth checking out!

Starbucks:
No coffee shop list would be complete without this café tycoon. With classic favorites like the Mocha Frappuccino and White Chocolate Mocha, it’s a safe bet you’ll be able to find something you love from Starbucks. Chances are you have a gift card to this coffee house and it won’t last much longer.

The location in the Union makes this a perfect place to hit up in between classes, granted the line isn’t already forming around the corner. Plenty of seating is provided making it easy to pass the time studying, Facebook stalking, or pinning while you sip. This just in, Starbucks has begun serving their fall flavors for the season so get them while you can!
