Those who Stepped out in Their Oscar Best

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at IU chapter.

It was a big night for Hollywood this past Sunday! The 87th annual Academy Awards brought us an array of memorable moments, from Patricia Arquette’s “wage equality” acceptance speech to Lady Gaga’s incredible “The Sound of Music” tribute, which even blew Julie Andrews away. Not only did we enjoy the competition inside The Dolby Theater but we also enjoyed the competition for the, arguably most coveted, title of “Best Dressed”. While the wide variety of color was lacking, Hollywood’s biggest stars dazzled us with their classic, sparkling, and bold looks…while others left us scratching our heads. A look back at the top 10 looks from The Oscars:

10. Presenter Lupita Nyong’o was the ultimate vision of class in her Calvin Klein Collection dress, embellished entirely in pearls.

9. Presenter Margot Robbie was Hollywood chic in this black Saint Laurent dress with its draping neckline and sheer sleeves.  Margot completed the look with a classic red lip and a statement Van Cleef & Arpels necklace from the 1930s, orginally made for a Duchess.

8. Anna Kendrick stunned in this coral silk georgette and chiffon gown custom made for her by Thakoon. A classic updo completed her princess look.

7. Gwyneth Paltrow chose a bold one- sleeved, pale pink Ralph & Russo Couture gown complete with an oversized rose.

6. Emma Stone went for a daring look and nailed it this year! Emma dazzled us in a gold Elie Saab Haute Couture gown with conservative chatreuse long sleeves which were well balanced with the dresses’ open back and Emma’s red hair.

5. Rita Ora hit the Red Carpet in this slate-blue custom-made fishtail Marchesa gown with crystal embroidery details, giving her an extra pop.

4. Dakota Johnson brought our favorite color from Fifty Shades to the Red Carpet. Dakota donned this jeweled embesslishd one-shoulder, bright red Saint Laurent dress.

3. Also stunning and sizzling in red, was Oscar nominated Rosamund Pike, who looked quite ‘amazing’ in this custom Givenchy dress with its high slit and lace overlay.

2. Scarlett Johansson had us green with envy in her gorgeous, curve hugging,  halter Versace dress.(She just had a baby!) Scar Jo completed her look with a generous amount of cleavage and a green statement necklace.

1. And our number one Best Dressed look goes to our favorite girl from the block, Jennifer Lopez. J-Lo stunned in this embellished, blush colored gown by Elie Saab complete with a plunging deep-V and full tulle skirt.
