IU Campus Celebrity: Justin Kingsolver

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at IU chapter.

Who is the newest voice representing Indiana University’s student body? Justin Kingsolver, a junior from Fishers, Ind. will become the next president of the Indiana University Student Association

This is not Justin’s first IUSA experience. “I was the Kirkwood Ticket’s candidate for Student Body President last year,” Justin says, “and I was a successful candidate for Congress on the Red Hot ticket in 2009.”

Justin will be responsible for many tasks when he officially becomes IUSA’s president. To name a few, Justin says that the student body president immediately gets put on about seventeen different campus boards and committees. In addition, he/she oversees an administration of more than 100 people, coordinating all members of the executive branch in order to accomplish platform agenda items, and serve the students.

Justin is studying political science, comparative and international affairs, and business management. Politics are always on his mind. People who inspire Justin include political icons such as Ronald Reagan. However, after this tough campaign Justin says he will most likely steer away from politics in future plans and focus on law.

Justin is not only involved with IUSA and other political organization, but is also the Chaplin of Sigma Phi Epsilon. The Chaplin is in charge of all the rituals and standards of the fraternity.

If he has free time, Justin likes to watch movies. He calls him self “a huge movie buff.” But when the weather is nice you can find him outside playing tennis.

So what is Justin’s favorite IU memory? January of his freshman year, Justin and one of his new pledge brothers heard a rumor that there was a tunnel, which began from the Jordan River to the greek houses on Third Street.

The night before finals in April of 2009 they searched for hours in the muddy drainage systems of IU for this tunnel – but they had no success.

“It’s still a priority for me to find the tunnel before I graduate,” Justin says.
