What should I do if I am single for Valentine’s Day?

Well, Valentine’s Day is the day of love. While the first thing that comes to mind for girls and guys is romantic love; that is not the only kind of love. Take the day to celebrate the love you share with your family and friends. Why not give a gift or write a special letter to your parents and siblings, or go to a movie night with your closest friends? Love has so many facets. Just because you’re single does not mean you should miss out on celebrating the important relationships in your life.

How do I meet guys on Spring Break?

This one is going to take some courage ladies; and in my professional opinion the most obvious way to meet some guys is the best way. You’re on vacation! You and your friends should enjoy the tropical sun while getting some exercise. How about playing some volleyball, Kan Jam, or taking a walk along the beach? Scope the beach for some guys who might also be enjoying the water, sun, and sand. While playing beach sports be aware of your peripherals. If by chance you see some bros walking along the shore, go ahead and ask if they’d like to join (remember, you are short of members). On the other hand, if you and your friends are the ones walking along the beach, casually ask the group of guys if you can join their beach sport. After a day of fun together, it’s okay to exchange names, but not numbers. It is vital, at this point, not to give anyone your number, even if you’re asked for it. If a guy asks for your number, change the subject. Make plans to hang out the following day. After you’ve set up the “date” and hung out again, then it is permissible to swap numbers, and make future plans. The whole idea behind not giving your number out and playing it cool, comes from my previous Brospective article: “[it] makes pursuing you more challenging” (McHaffie). As we all know, “guys (and girls) want what they can’t have” (McHaffie). Trust me, it will work; and at the very least, you will have met a new friend.

In the winter, date nights are so boring. What are some creative things guys would like to do?

Ice Skating—Ice skating may seem like an easy option, but it’s a great date none-the-less. While the idea of ice skating is probably more often the girl’s choice, few dates are as appealing to a man as ice skating in the winter. Ice skating is full of challenges; allows for risk taking; and promotes laughter, both with and at each other. Therefore ice skating presents the perfect balance between athleticism and romanticism. Where else can you hold hands with your best girl and travel in circles for hours?

Fireside-Chats—This date is more than just tuning into the local radio station to hear the 32nd president of the United States. In fact, it’s not that at all. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, just a simple dinner while sitting next to a warm fire, and hushed voices between lovers. What is important to remember is: location, location, location. Sit close to the fire on the ground. This is imperative, because it adds to the overall intimacy of the night. Once the lights have dimmed and the fire is blazing, sit close to one another, talk about your feelings while staring into each others eyes. Be prepared for an awesome night together. A woman loves to be able to connect on a deep and meaningful level. Am I right, ladies? And every man can benefit from being able to share his feelings while getting to know all there is to know about his date.

Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides—Can you think of a more romantic date? Such winter adventures have stood the test of time. Why even, the ancient Christmas carol, “Jingle Bells,” refers to a sleigh ride in the snow:
“Dashing through the snow
On a one-horse open sleigh,
Over the fields we go,
Laughing all the way…
Go it while you’re young,
Take the girls tonight
And sing this sleighing song.”

These lyrics sound an awful lot like a date; and a romantic one at that. The best part of the actual ride, at least for the man, is similar to the highlights of the fireside-chat. His favorite part will be spending romantic time with his girl, and watching her enjoy the evening.

What do guys think of girls who wear leggings as pants?

The fact is that, in the words of a good friend of mine, “Leggings ain’t pants.” That being said, some guys prefer them and other men don’t, ironically, for the very same reason, leggings can be risqué. And jeggings are just plain weird.

How do I show a guy what I’d like him to start dressing like? Is my Pinterest an option?

The only way you should go about telling him what to wear, using Pinterest, is if he can tell you what to wear using Google images; so, don’t do that. But do, feel free to compliment him when he wears something you do like. This is a more positive approach and will encourage him to dress in a way that is pleasing to you. Dress code is something that should only be required in gym class. It may sound trite, but it’s true: what’s really matters, is what is on the inside. Try to make this your focus.
