Best and Worst Dressed of the Grammys

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at IU chapter.

We can’t get enough of the fashion from this year’s 54th annual Grammy awards. We watched the red carpet pre-show on E! News and we marveled over the outfits we saw on the saw. We’ve complied a list of our best-dressed and worst-dressed celebrities of the evening. Do you agree?

BEST DRESSED:

Rihanna

Rihanna helped create this dress by Giorgio Armani and we love everything from the blonde hair to the plunging neckline. She’s stunning! We also loved her performance with Coldplay during the show. Ahhh, Rihanna. What more can we say?

Adele

Adele looked glamourous in this sparkly black dress by Giorgio Armani. She’s working the red lips and fierce eye makeup too. No wonder she’s music’s “it” girl. She won every category she was nominated for! We can’t get enough!

Corrine Bailey Rae

British singer, Corrine Bailey Rae was breathtaking in this black Christian Siriano dress. We loved the volume and ruffles! The curly hair and crazy shoes helped complete the outfit.

Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood pulled off this white ensemble by Gomez-Gracia. The sequins and high neckline help make the white dress look dazzling.

Kelly Rowland

Kelly Rowland was soft and feminine in this Alberta Ferretti gown. The gun-metal embellishments looked phenonmonal with the blush hue of her dress.

Jessie J

Jessie J proved that sparkles can be sophisticated in this gown by Julien MacDonald. The dress fit the pop star perfectly and the blunt bangs and high pony tail made completed her apperance.

WORST DRESSED:

Nick Minaj

We know that all the stars are trying to outdo Lady Gaga, but this was a bit much. Even if it was a Versace gown, it was a little too Red Riding Hood for us. Her “Pope” escort should have told her wearing that outfit was a sin!

Fergie

We’re a little confused by Fergie’s outfit of choice. The Jean Paul Gaultier gown was daring and the color (Tangerine Tango) was glorious. However, she missed the mark with the granny panties. If you’re going to do daring, go all the way! Note to self: don’t steal your grandmother’s underwear and try to pull them off as your own.

Sasha Gradiva

Isn’t there a security check at the Grammys? What exactly is this? Maybe Sasha Gradiva was just exercising her right to bear arms (ha… ha… HA!) We love a good fashion risk, but this was a little too dangerous for our taste.

Katy Perry

We love Katy Perry as much as the next person, and her Elie Saab dress was gorgeous! Her blue hair is what lands her on our list of worst-dressed celebrities. She’s a little too blue over the break-up from Russell Brand, and this wasn’t the way to show it.

Snooki Polizzi

Not only was Snooki wearing a Bebe dress, her entire outfit was a little wild from the hair bow to the zebra stripes. She was looking very slim and sexy though! We do have to give her props on the shoes… they were adorable.

Rebecca Black

First of all, how did she get an invite to the Grammys? She looked age appropriate in a black ruffled gown and red strappy shoes, but was it a little too age appropriate? We got a strong “I’m going to the prom” vibe. All in all we have to commend her for having the song we all loved to hate in 2011.

And….

We have to give a shout-out to LL Cool J for doing an amazing job as the first host of the Grammys in seven years! He was looking handsome in his signature black cap. We loved the crisp black suit, and his smile and effortless swagger were contagious.

And, how could we forget Sophia Grace and Rosie. The duo showed up to the Grammys looking adorable as always. Don’t you wish you could get away with an outfit like that? They’re precious!

Last, but certainly not least we have to recognize Taylor Swift. After 2009’s disaster with Kanye West at the VMAs, the country superstar got to perform her hit song “Mean” (rumors has it she wrote it about Mr. West) at this year’s Grammys. The performance gave us chills and T.Swift was overly excited about her well deserved standing ovation! Congratulations!
