Spring break is just around the corner! If you plan on traveling out of snowy Ithaca, hopefully that means sun and sand is in your future. With the return of the bikini comes inevitable pressure to achieve “the bikini bod.” But here’s the thing: every body is a bikini body.

There is no easy fix for losing weight or bulking up for a show-worthy amount of muscle. It takes time, effort and a lot of dedication. Trust me, I’ve been the girl who went to the gym nearing spring break, only to be disappointed in the results I didn’t see. The most important way to feel better about your appearance is making body peace. You may not be at your goal yet, but you are trying your very best. Be happy with yourself for setting a goal for the right reasons.

Also, keep in mind the models you see in Victoria’s Secret definitely do not represent any realistic body type. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Justin Gelband, a trainer for many of the angels, stated, “I know lots of girls I work with didn’t grow up skinny. No one would ever know that [these girls] used to be 25 pounds heavier.” It doesn’t matter who you are; training takes countless hours and perseverance. “For Karlie Kloss, it took 11 years of ballet. Candice grew up doing ballet. Jasmine did gymnastics for 10 years. They all had to learn how their bodies worked and how to get where they need to be”.

A spring break bod doesn’t have to be a model’s body or a toned body. It is your body—beautiful and unique. Know that no one else in the world has your exact body, and that makes you one special woman. For now, just focus on what to pack in your beach bag!
