Senioritis: That post-spring break feeling

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ithaca chapter.

Spring break has come and gone and we’re still trying to get by on a week’s worth of sun and relaxation, even a month later. Now we’re faced with the last few weeks until that sweet, sweet moment of crossing that stage during graduation that’s been dancing like sugar-plums in our heads for the past four years. However, the dreaded feeling of being so close, yet so far can make anyone want to pull their hair out.

I thought “senioritis” was bad in high school, and then it hit me in college. Let me tell you, that’s so much worse. I think it feels so dreadful because we’re so close to embracing the real world with real responsibilities, finally getting that puppy our parents have always denied us, not feeling as broke as we did in college, and finally feeling like we’re making a difference in our respective career fields, while not realizing how far we actually have to go.

That beautiful independence we’ve been craving for so many years is only a few weeks away but those pesky classes and finals stand in our way. It’s so easy to lose all motivation during this weird period of the semester, waiting for the rest of our lives to hurry up and start.

I promise, to all of those seniors out there, you can get through the next few weeks even though it might seem impossible at this point. Pull yourself up by your boot straps, put your fanciest sweatpants on, and find your groove to rock and roll through the rest of the semester as a big, bad senior.
