Samantha Towle scribbling away in a notebook. Sam is a freshman Cinema/Photography and Psychology double major and is a Her Campus Ithaca College My Campus Celebrity because her doodles have gotten some serious media attention. Since her high school calculus class, Sam has relied on the doodles she draws into the margins of her class notes as her method for mastering difficult course content. Something that comes fairly easy for her is humor so when the website Collegehumor.com offered a competition called America’s Smartest Slacker, Sam quickly typed up a story about her doodling and sent it in. About a month later she got an answer saying her story was selected from the 300 other applicants to be made into an animated humor video for the website. The award also includes a year’s supply of eTextbooks from CourseSmart and a $1,000 cash prize. So far Sam has been interviewed by ABC news, The Ithacan, CourseSmart, and is scheduled for a phone interview with Ithaca radio station WHCU.
