This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ithaca chapter.

Name: Seth J. Tebo

Year: Sophomore

Relationship Status: Single

Major: TVR with audio concentration

What are you involved in on campus comedy-wise?:

“IC Comedy Club and IC Sketch Club.”

How long have you been doing bits for?:

“My whole life; my entire life’s a bit.”

What’s your favorite form of comedy?:

“Sketch.”

When did you decide you wanted to do comedy club?:

“I saw it last year at the OrgFair and thought it would be fun!”

What’s your favorite thing about comedy club?:

“It’s a very accepting and open environment. I went in as a freshman and didn’t know anyone but became friends with everyone because they were so inclusive and welcoming. Now being a sophomore I get to do this with freshmen now that I’m a year older and it’s the coolest thing.”

What comedians do you admire?:

“John Mulaney. I feel as though we are very similar and I get inspired from his sets. Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein’s work on Portlandia is really great as well. I also love Justin Roiland from Rick and Morty and Adventure Time. Chelsea Peretti’s Netflix special is one of my favorites too. She’s great.”

Do you have a favorite type of comedy?:

“I really like dark comedy. I enjoy all types except for hyperactive, in-your-face comedy.”

 Thoughts on man buns:

“I felt at first that I didn’t like them and now I don’t like them. I don’t think they work for everybody and hope the trend fades quickly.”

What are your favorite podcasts?:

“Comedy Bang Bang for sure and Sleepycabin is great.”

What’s your favorite takeout place?:

“Definitely Jimmy John’s because it’s open real late and I’m a lover of sandwiches.”

What’s your order at Jimmy John’s?:

“Country Club with no tomatoes.”

What are you watching on Netflix?:

“I’m re-watching 30 Rock right now.”

Dogs or Cats?:

“Dogs! I have three of them.”

Would you ever get a tattoo?:

“Yes and no. I already have one and I’ll probably get another one when I have more money.”

What do you have now?:

“It’s my oldest dog’s paw print. Her name’s Maggie and she’s a black lab so it’s pretty big. It’s on my left boob.”

What about your other dogs? Where are their tattoos?:

“Maybe I’ll get them. Maggie’s the dog I grew up it so it’s more meaningful. While I love my other dogs, it’s not the same.”

Beards or clean shaven?:

“One time a guy, on the cheek, kissed me and he had a beard and I feel bad for anyone who gets kissed by someone with a beard because it sucks. On myself I like the lazy beard.”

What’s a lazy beard?:

“It’s like scruffy and gross.”

Are there any upcoming comedy events or something you’d like to plug?:

“On Nov. 18th there is a comedy club show in Klingenstein lounge in campus center. I’ll be there and I might perform. Also my roommate and I have a podcast that we release Thursday morning and we have people from the comedy scene on there. We pitch each other stuff and it’s improv-based and it’s great to listen to on your commute. It’s called Just Throwing It Out There. It’s available on Soundcloud and we have a Facebook page. We’re trying on getting it on iTunes. I also worked on Campus Retreat, the ICTV show that’s a spoof of reality TV shows like Big Brother, taking place on a college campus. I did audio for that. My twitter is @sjtebo13. If you search Seth Tebo you’ll find it.”
