It is officially one of the most anticipated times of the year: Spooky Season! A month filled with fall themes, scary decorations, and pumpkin-flavored treats wouldn’t feel the same without the comfort of Halloween-themed entertainment. Remember when you would be watching Disney Channel and a commercial advertising “Monstober” would appear? Exciting, right? These Halloween episodes produced by both Disney Channel and Nickelodeon were something I looked forward to rewatching every year. Even as an adult, the comfort of my favorite childhood shows never fails to brighten my mood. There are so many to choose from especially in the age of streaming services, so here is my personal Halloween episode guide to get you into the spooky spirit.

“The Ghost of Suite 613” The Suite Life of Zack & Cody

Arguably one of the most iconic episodes of the Suite Life franchise is the Halloween episode, “The Ghost of Suite 613”. Found in season 1 of the series, the 19th episode of the season is packed with spooky legends, creepy costumes, and a hunt for the ghost living in the suite. The episode opens with Zack pulling prank after prank on his brother Cody, who scares easily during the Halloween season. After London Tipton, the quirky icon of the show, reveals the legend of “Irene”, a bride who died after an accident involving a mirror in Suite 613, Zack dares the group to spend the night in the haunted room. The group performs a seance to channel the spirit of “Irene”, only to be met with continuous haunting situations that leave them running for the hotel room exit. If you are a fan of the early Disney Channel style shows, this Halloween special will definitely get you into the spooky spirit.

“The Whining” – Jessie

The season two premiere of the hit Disney Channel show, Jessie, provides a spooky start to another season with the Ross Kids. After receiving a warning from the mysterious doorman named Grimm Haloran telling the kids not to go trick or treating on the 13th floor, Luke and Zuri decide to disregard the warning and head to the unlucky spot anyways. At the same time, an exhausted Jessie tries again and again to submit her writing to a famous editor, but her continued strange behavior causes the Ross kids to mistake her for a haunted, scary killer. Taking inspiration from Stephen King’s “The Shining”, this episode is perfect for those who love suspense and plot twists.

“The Monster of Phineas-n-Ferbenstein”- Phineas and Ferb

What are Phineas and Ferb going to do in season one, episode forty? Nothing outdoors, that’s for sure, as a huge rainstorm pours down outside the Flynn/Fletcher household. Feeling somber after cancelling their plans, Phineas and Ferb decide to listen to a spooky tale told by Ferb’s Grandpa Reginald, involving an ancient relative of his creating a platypus type monster. Over at the Doofenshmirtz headquarters, Perry the Platypus accidentally gets locked in the building along with Dr. D. With nothing to do but pass time, Doofenshmirtz tells Perry an ancient story of his own, with similar monster-like themes. If you’re looking for an animated comfort show to bring you the spooky spirit, listening along to the tale of “Phineas-n-Ferbenstein” is the perfect match for you.

“Halloween”- Wizards of Waverly Place

After being told that their haunted house isn’t scary enough, Alex takes matters into her own magical powers to save the Russo spot in the house. In the second episode of season three, Alex Russo runs into multiple obstacles on her journey to find the last minute fill-ins. After her father instructs her to only contact non-scary ghosts from the wizard world, she listens and brings them back to the leader of the haunted house, Teresa. But Teresa doesn’t buy the offer and deems the ghosts not scary enough, causing Alex and her best friend Harper to go back into the wizard world and find the scariest ghost there: a legend called “Mantooth”. The friends bring Mantooth back to the haunted house, where a reign of terror unleashes in this fright-packed Disney special.

“Haunt-A-Rooney”- Liv and Maddie Whenever

In this specialty crossover between the iconic Disney shows Liv and Maddie and Best Friends Whenever, Maddie and her best friend Willow prepare for the annual Ridgewood high school tradition, where the seniors in high school scare middle schoolers. As for the other twin, Liv attends the Central Park Spooktacular event with brother Joey, where she has a haunted encounter with photographers due to her fame as an actress. However, two of her fans, who happen to be best friends Shelby and Cyd from Disney Channel’s Best Friends Whenever, time travel over to the Liv and Maddie franchise to come to her rescue. This crossover is filled with pranks, comedic family moments, and scenes that will have you going “Bam-What!”.

“Scary Had a Little Lamb” – Good Luck Charlie

Episode number twenty five of season two contains a night full of tricks and treats at the Duncan household. In “Scary Had a Little Lamb”, Teddy and best friend Ivy plan their spooky revenge after a neighbor pulls a costume ruining prank on them. As for the other siblings, PJ takes on a new goth style in hopes to impress his date Zoey, who ends up having similar fashion interests. Gabe and Mrs. Dabney are back to their usual antics, with Gabe getting the short stick of the deal in this episode, as he falls for the famous contract singing trick that forces him to clean up Dabeny’s house. And finally, the two iconic parents of this show, Bob and Amy Duncan, find their own style in comedic Halloween costumes.

Whether you are going out with friends this Halloweekend, handing out candy to trick-or-treaters, or simply cozying up with some pumpkin-themed treats on this ghostly holiday, there are plenty of episodes on the Disney Channel network that will bring you joy, comfort, and a sense of nostalgia that will have you smiling in remembrance.
