Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ithaca chapter.

Nintendo announced last week that they will release “Animal Crossing” game, this time for your smartphone. It will be released in late November for both iOS and Android devices in the United States and has already been released in Australia. “Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp” will be the first “Animal Crossing” game to be released on a non-Nintendo device, and from the information given, it seems to stay pretty true to the original “Animal Crossing.” This game takes place in real-time, so fish that come out at night will only come out later in the day, and trees take real days to grow.

In the game, the player can speak to the animals in their camp,  fish, mine, catch bugs and even collect fruit. According to players in Australia, the game runs on a three-hour cycle. Villages move every three hours, quests change, and the marketplace resets after six hours.

As for in-game currencies, “Animal Crossing” has adopted Leaf Tickets. You can pay for Leaf Tickets with real money, or earn them by completing objectives in the game. The game itself is free, but to unlock some customizations and speed up certain processes, you will have to use Leaf Tickets.

In the original “Animal Crossing” game, events like Christmas, New Year’s, and the solstices. In the app, there will, most definitely, be a Christmas event. If it’s anything like the older versions of the game, there will be special things to buy and snowman building events where you can earn in-game prizes.

Overall, the game seems to stay pretty true to the original version. It will have many of the same characters as the older games and many of the same challenges. Although it isn’t live in the United States yet, you can get the game from your app store when it’s released.
