Music is one of the few things that successfully gets me through my week, so here are a few of my favorite songs to bop to and survive through

1. “Thank U, Next” by Ariana Grande

I am obsessed with this song right now, as is most of the country. If you haven’t heard it yet definitely go check it out. The song is all about Ariana thanking her exes for their past relationship but also how she’s moving on to be with herself. Yet unlike other famous songs about exes, she calls them all out by name! Which is a little shady, but it’s a shade I am living for.

2. “Come Over” by The Internet

If you haven’t heard of The Internet yet stop what you’re doing right now, they will make you feel everything. “Come Over” is such a bop! It is all about trying to convince that special someone to come over and have a good time. The music video is also so great and has fun cameos like Quinta from Buzzfeed and Riverdale’s Haley Law.

3. “Promises” by Aly & AJ

Flashback to 2007 and dancing to Aly & AJ was an everyday occurrence. Now they’re back and better than before! Off their most recent EP, there are so many good songs to choose from, most notably “Take Me”. But “Promises” is one that tends to get overlooked and is always running through my head.

4. “Fuqboi” by Hey Violet

Hey Violet is another amazing band that I hope you’ve heard of. It started off as a sister duo before launching into a bigger group with their big hit “Guys My Age” this song, however, was launched on their EP and then again on their full album because it is just that great. “Fuqboi” is all about that type of dude who is a complete jerk but everybody wants.

5. “Boots” by Kesha

I feel like this list would be incomplete without picking something off of Kesha’s Rainbow album. “Boots” is all about the whirlwind an unexpected love can be, how no matter how you try to deny it will creep up on you. It also features my favorite Kesha line ever, “If you can’t handle these claws, you don’t get this kitty.”

6. “Some Kinda Wonderful” by Betty Who

You may recognize Betty Who’s voice from the theme song of the hit Netflix show Queer Eye. Betty Who perfectly combines modern music styling and a simple retro vibe, making their music irresistible. “Some Kinda Wonderful” is definitely more of a modern pop song but when else can you dance in a laundromat??

7. “I Like That” by Janelle Monáe

This list would be incomplete without Janelle Monáe’s Dirty Computer album. “I Like That” in particular is a perfect groove and can get you to fall in like with anything.
