Whether your go-to smell is vanilla, apple, grape, or musk, here are some tips and tricks on how to stay smelling good all day and to turn some heads as you walk past.

Tip #1

Honestly the best tip I can give is to make sure everything you put on your body compliments your body spray or perfume of choice. From deodorant to body wash, making your whole routine center around your smell will make it long lasting, no matter how long your perfume stays.

Tip #2

Another great tip is to make sure you do not have any competing smells on your body; i.e. make sure I am smelling your perfume not your natural body odor! Use products that eliminate that body odor such as whole-body deodorant, dusting powders, and foot lotion.

Tip #3

Before buying and committing to a new perfume, make sure you test it on your body! Everyone has their own natural scent and sometimes this can make your perfume or body spray smell different than it does on the tester. So be sure to go into Sephora, Ulta, Lush, etc. and spray that spray on your body to see how you will truly smell.

Tip #4

When purchasing a fragrance, make sure you purchase the correct perfume concentration for you type of wear. If you want a longer lasting fragrance, purchase an eau de parfum, which has 12-18% fragrance concentration, while eau de toilette has only 8-12% (with eau de cologne having the lowest concentration at only 2-4%).

Tip #5

Don’t forget to moisturize! Perfume tends to last longer on moisturized skin than very dry skin. You can use an unscented lotion if you don’t want your moisturizer competing with your fragrance.

Perfume hack:
Apply a little unscented lotion first, then spray your fragrance on top to help it stick around longer.

Tip #6

Apply that perfume strategically!

Instead of absolutely DRENCHING yourself in perfume, try applying it strategically:

  • Wrists
  • Neck
  • Behind the ears
  • Inner elbows
  • Behind the knees

And don’t rub your wrists together after spraying. Let the fragrance dry naturally.

My Personal ReccoMENDATIONS

If you know me in real life you will know two things about me: 1)I always smell good and 2)I am always happy to give perfume recommendations or to flex my scent of the day! My two main scents as of late are grape and banana, so my recommendations primarily center around those scents however I used to be a vanilla girlie so I know a few things about vanilla as well.

My favorite banana perfumes/body sprays of all time are Banoffee Pie by Lush, Banana Rush by Juliette has a Gun and Fruit Fusion Banana Blend by Bath and Body Works.

For grape, my favorites are Princess Rosalina by Lush, The Comforter by Lush and Grape by the Eclectic Lady.

Finally my favorite vanilla/bakery scents of all time are Super Milk by Lush, which is vanilla and lemon scented, Sticky Dates by Lush, which is caramel, toffee and vanilla scented, 71 by Sol de Janeiro, which is caramel, and vanilla scented, Vanilla Musk by Nemat Fragrances, which shockingly smells like vanilla and musk, and Eilish No.1 by Billie Eilish, which smells like vanilla, musk and sugared petals.
