It’s that time of year again — classes are in full swing, the snow is melting (finally!) and there is never a treadmill open at the gym, which can only mean one thing… spring break is approaching us. It’s hard to complain about getting out of school for a week and hanging out with friends, but if you’re like me and have already started shopping for your spring break outfits, than you’ll understand how frustrating it is to find warm weathered clothing in the winter. Somehow the stores forget that it is not winter anymore, and finding a cute bathing suit is harder than staying away from Pinterest during finals week. But don’t worry, all hope is not lost, especially when online shopping, and there are many new trends that will have all your friends envious of you.

The first trend for spring break is fringe bathing suit tops. The fringe top adds a spin on the classic bathing suit top and will make you stand out at the beach. With a price tag around $100, L*space has a huge collection of fringe bathing suit tops, and if fringe is not for you, they have a whole selection of other fun bathing suit tops with unique twists. Target also has a collection of fringe tops and they are much more affordable — priced around $20.

The next item you need to pack for your spring break trip is a sun hat. Sun hats are perfect for the beach or walking around town, and they are not only cute, but they also protect you from getting sun burnt, and who wants that? If you are extra preppy, there are many websites that sun hats come with your monogrammed initials as well as your choice of colored band. I ordered one from Marley Lilly and it only took about two weeks to arrive!

Another spring break must-have is beach pants. Cover-up dresses are boring and over done, so if you really want to try something different, pair your bathing suit with a wide legged beach pant. An added bonus is that they are comfortable and durable. Steve Madden has a great selection at good prices. If you are extra daring, try a jumpsuit — Lily Pulitzer has colorful and fun pantsuits and they can transition your look from the beach to a night out.
