My Favorite Fall Birthday Traditions

As someone whose birthday was this past week (October 11th), I might be biased; however, I can confidently say fall birthdays are the best! There are so many fun activities to participate in and celebrate your special day with. I’m writing this article to tell you all the reasons I love my fall birthday, and what celebrations you should do to to love yours as much as I do.

Fun party themes

I know how fun a summer pool party or day at the beach sounds when thinking of birthday celebrations, but there are so many underrated fall-themed parties you can have! One that I have participated in is having a Halloween/birthday party all in one. Everyone comes in costume ready to have fun for the upcoming holiday and also your birthday! Seeing everyone’s costumes makes the day so much fun.

Other fun ideas when questioning how to celebrate a fall birthday are going out with friends and participating in some fall activities like apple picking, pumpkin carving and having a bonfire!

Fall treats

Not every birthday needs a cake! Every year since I was a baby, my family would make (and occasionally buy) pumpkin pie instead of the regular birthday cake. This has come to be one of my ultimate favorite birthday traditions, especially because of how much I love pumpkin pie.

However, if you happen to be a cake-lover, there are always fall alternatives! Instead of a typical vanilla or chocolate cake, you can do a pumpkin spice or any fall-flavored cake. One last alternative is having a fall-decorated cake. Any of these are super cute and easy ways to bring your dessert and the season together!

spend time outside

One of the best parts of having a fall birthday is the weather. The bright leaves morph into muted red and oranges and cover the ground. There’s always a chilly breeze, making it not too hot, but also not too cold. The beautiful sights and comfortable weather make it the perfect time to go outside! You won’t find yourself breaking a sweat, as you would if it were summer, shivering, as you would if it were winter, or drenched in rain, as you would if it were spring. Fall is the best time to spend time celebrating outside!

I know there are so many reasons to wish you could celebrate your day during a different season… I know I always dreamt of having a summer birthday filled with endless celebrations and no school. I still sometimes wish I could shift my birthday over a little, especially considering I had three mid-term exams on my birthday this year. But there is nothing I can do about it. All I can do now is enjoy all of the fun festivities I can partake in in order to celebrate my special day!

I hope that through this article you have learned that there are so many reasons to love having a fall birthday and enjoy your special day a little more than you have in the past!

Hello everyone! My name is Hazel Polanco and I am the Senior Editor at the Illinois Chapter. I am currently a sophomore studying Political Science and Legal Studies on the pre-law track! When I am not working my Barista job or reading papers for my classes, I love to read (specifically romance books), work out and spend time with my friends. A little fun fact about me is I have a handful of niche hobbies that I am not very good at including bead embroidery and not limited to doing gel nails! I hope you stick around and read some of what I have to share:)
