Being a college student, it’s hard to afford a fabulous wardrobe that is up-to-date with the latest fashion trends from designers in New York City. Such a rough life not being able to wear stylish dresses! Have no fear, I’ll let you in on my little secret: Rent the Runway.
In order to solve this dilemma of wanting the newest runway outfits but not being able to afford them, I turn to Rent the Runway to dress me for special events. Rent the Runway was started by two Harvard Business School grads—Jennifer Hyman and Jennifer Fleiss— who both had a vision of making their dream closets a reality for every occasion.
These two ladies did more than just make their dream come true; they made mine come true too. Rent the Runway allows me to constantly mix up my look based on my mood and to avoid wearing the same dress over and over again. I never have to worry about using that dreaded line of “a closet full of clothes but nothing to wear” and seeing myself in the same dress in all of my pictures.
The thing I love most about Rent the Runway is how they make it accessible for college girls to rent. Rent the Runway has Runway Reps at nearly every major university campus. These Runway Reps are in charge of promoting Rent the Runway, hosting events and handing out promotional discount cards. Who doesn’t love a discount for great clothes, right?
Rent the Runway at Illinois is teaming up with Her Campus this November 30th to host a fashion show at their “Take a Holiday with Her Campus” wellness event, which will be held at the Activities and Recreation Center from 6-9pm. The fashion show will be at 7pm and will feature 20 vacation destination looks. Be sure to stop by and check out their booth as well. Rumor has it that Rent the Runway will be handing out a very special promo code for those who register and rent at the event.
From Facebook contests to setting up a Rent the Runway registration table on the quad, there are plenty of ways you can help turn U of I into a fashionable campus. To get involved, contact them at istyleillini@gmail.com and remember to follow Rent the Runway at Illinois on their facebook page “Rent the Runway at University of Illinois” and on twitter @RTRIllinois.
