Falling Into Fall: Summer To Fall Transition

It’s my personal favorite time of year: the transition from summer to fall! Now, I know we all love not being in school, having tons of free time, and tanning in the sun, but let’s be honest with ourselves here; by September, we are so over the hot weather. Right now we are in the annually weird period where if we wear a sweatshirt to class we’ll get too warm, but if we wear a t-shirt and shorts, we might get too chilly. I’m going to talk about some ways to make the transition between these two seasons as simple as possible.

Sort through your wardrobe

It’s good to have your wardrobe separated, so it’s easier to pick out an outfit. I usually put all my summer clothes, like most tank tops and shorts, together. Since they are easy to fold, I usually put them all in a drawer. I then hang up all my long sleeves and hoodies, so they are easy to grab and go. My best tip is to wear a T-shirt and bring a hoodie with you, so you can take it on and off whenever.

Start incorporating fall foods and drinks

I know we all love our Starbucks refreshers, but to really get into the fall spirit, start ordering those seasonal pumpkin drinks. Refreshers are here forever, but pumpkin drinks are only temporary! Fall is also the season for baking comfort food. I’m not a baker or a chef, but in the fall, I love making cookies and attempting to make different kinds of soups. It really gets you in the spirit!

Make a new schedule

As much as I love fall, I think we can all agree that one of the most dreaded parts is how it gets dark early. I hope I’m not the only one who loses motivation to do pretty much anything when this happens. If this happens to you also, it’s important to plan out your whole day (if you don’t do so already). Set specific times to do certain tasks, so that you know it will get done. Even better if you can complete your most important tasks before it gets dark! You may even need to change your sleep schedule to adjust to the new light schedule.

Reorganize your room

Ever heard of spring cleaning? Well, it doesn’t necessarily apply to just that specific season. It’s a good habit to reorganize and clean out your living space at the start of a new season. I mean, who wants to start a new season off with the messy, same-old room? Switch out your candles to get those pumpkin and cinnamon apple scents going! Focus on making your room as cozy as can be, as opposed to those bright summer colors. For me, having all my summer stuff up in the fall just doesn’t feel right.

I hope you all enjoy this year’s fall season! I know I will!
