The Best Thanksgiving TV Episodes to Get You in a ~Turkey~ Mood

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois chapter.

One of the best parts of a holiday is getting to go back to your favorite shows and rewatch some of the best holiday episodes. Here are some iconic Thanksgiving episodes.

Friends

I tried to narrow it down to just one Friends Thanksgiving episode, but the truth is there are too many great ones to choose from. My personal favorite is season 5 episode 8, “The One With All the Thanksgivings.” This has the hilarious scene where Chandler tells Monica he loves her for the first time while she is dancing with a turkey on her head.

However, another great episode is season 8 episode 9, “The One With the Rumor.” Not only does it have Brad Pitt as a guest star, but we get this relatable look from Joey.

New Girl

Season 3 episode 10, “Thanksgiving III” is one of the best of the Thanksgiving episodes of New Girl. Jess drags the gang out to a campsite to do a picnic Thanksgiving. They try to find their food once they get there, and Nick “catches” a dead fish from a pond. Jess ends up eating it and gets a little delirious. It’s a great episode in the midst of the Nick and Jess relationship, and it ends with a nice Thanksgiving meal from a hospital vending machine.

Another hilarious New Girl Thanksgiving episode is the first one, season 1 episode 6, “Thanksgiving.” Thanksgiving dinner turns a little crazy when a dead body shows up in the neighbor’s apartment, and ends with a turkey exploding in the dryer.

Gilmore Girls

We love watching the Gilmore girls eat record amounts of food, and this Thanksgiving episode is no exception. In season 3 episode 9, “Deep-Fried Korean Thanksgiving,” Lorelai and Rory have a full day of eating with four different Thanksgiving dinners in their schedule. They start at the Kims, then on to Sookie’s (where Jackson is deep-frying the turkey on the front lawn), then of course to Luke’s for the best meal, then off to Richard and Emily’s.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Charles Boyle is the food expert, and truly thrives on Thanksgiving. The first Thanksgiving episode we see is season 1 episode 10, “Thanksgiving,” where we see the squad playing “Boyle Bingo,” calling everything that Boyle is bound to do because of the fact that it’s Thanksgiving.

Another great episode is season 5, episode 7, “Two Turkeys.” Amy and Jake are worried about their parents meeting for the first time, which is a cute family moment for the engaged couple. However, it wouldn’t be a great Thanksgiving episode without Boyle starting it out in his ‘Tommy Gobbler’ costume, and then getting stuck between the elevator doors as it goes back up.
