7 Things You May Not Know About in Celebrity Drama

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois chapter.

1. All Mariah Yeater wanted was somebody to love, and when she claimed that somebody was Justin Bieber it made headlines. While Yeater has since dismissed the paternity lawsuit against the singer, Justin Bieber may hold her accountable for her petty actions by suing Yeater for such bogus claims. What does this mean? No Justin Bieber will not appear on Maury to determine whether or not he is the baby Daddy, no Justin Bieber and Selena’s relationship is not on the rocks and most importantly, no the Biebs is not the father –and he was like baby, baby, baby, no.

2. Gone are the days of cougars and panthers. It’s official Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher are splitting up after just 6-years of marriage. Kutcher tried to win back Moore’s affection with a car but Demi is not buying it. It is speculated that Hollywood gossip and Ashtons’ alleged cheating, combined with an age difference of 15 years caused the split.

3. Kim Kardashian’s impending split to Kris Humphries resulted in one of the greatest hashtags to go down in Twistory #ThingsLongerThanKimsMarriage. If you thought that was the last you would have heard from Kris Humphries, you guessed wrong. The former basketball star whose contract recently expired just snagged a deal with Sector –an Italian luxury watch brand.  Meanwhile, Kim is getting turned town from Elle’s creative director Joe Zee because she doesn’t actually have anything interesting going on in her life right now.

4. Dear Bachelorette fans, your hopes of Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez becoming Trista and Ryan 2.0 have been crushed. That’s right, these lovebirds are calling it quit, as if you had not lost your faith in reality love already.

5. Instead of 9-9-9, Herman Cain’s presidential campaign needs to call 9-1-1. After several women came forward accusing Cain of sexual harassment earlier this month, he was grilled about these allegations on the set of David Letterman. Cain says that the women have made false accusations. What do you think about these allegations?

6. Our Big 10 rival, Penn State is in the midst of a major scandal all thanks to former defense coordinator Jerry Sandusky. Pedophilia allegations came forward earlier this month, and the coach has since been arrested and charged with 40 counts of sexual abuse. More victims are expected to come forward in the next month. Even worse is that the investigation suggests that Penn State knew that the Sandusky had been questioned of preying on children but did just about nothing to stop it. This is why Penn State hired public relations agency, Ketchum to cover their dirt.

7. Wearing a power balance bracelet? You might as well throw it in the trash because beyond the fact that it is not even cute, the claims that these bracelets are scientifically proven to enhance strength, balance and flexibility are entirely made up. A class action lawsuit has recently been settled for $57 million against Power Balance. The company plans to not only close up shop but to also file for bankruptcy.

Emily Cleary is a 22-year-old news-editorial journalism major hoping to work in the fashion industry, whether that be in editorial, marketing, PR or event planning is TBD. With internships at Teen Vogue and StyleChicago.com, it's clear that she is a fashion fanatic. When she's not studying (she's the former VP of her sorority, Delta Delta Delta), writing for various publications or attending meetings for clubs like Business Careers in Entertainment Club, Society of Professional Journalists, The Business of Fashion Club, or for her role as the Assistant Editor of the Arts & Entertainment section of her school's magazine, she's doing something else; you will never find her sitting still. She loves: running (you know those crazy cross-country runners...), attending concerts and music festivals, shopping (of course), hanging out with friends, visiting her family at home, traveling (she studied abroad in London when she was able to travel all over Europe), taking pictures, tweeting, reading stacks and stacks of magazines and newspapers while drinking a Starbuck's caramel light frappacino, blogs and the occasional blogging, eating anything chocolate and conjuring up her next big project. Living just 20 minutes outside of Chicago, she's excited to live there after graduation, but would love to spend some time in New York, LA, London or Paris (she speaks French)!
