When you’re looking for a fun night out in Chambana, the bars seem like the way to go. But sometimes you just don’t feel like ruining your shoes walking through whatever is on the floors at Kam’s with only a blue guy to comfort you. So here are some fun things to do on campus that don’t involve going to the bars!
Krannert
Krannert Center for the Performing Arts offers concerts and performances on almost every day of the week plus discounted student ticket prices. So, You are bound to find something that you and your friends would want to see and at a reasonable price. You can get dressed up, grab dinner in Urbana and you have your night made.
Canopy Club
If you’re looking for a musical event that is a little more casual, Canopy Club has concerts and musicians performing all the time. Ticket prices range, but you can find super affordable events. You definitely have to go to Canopy Club while you’re at UIUC.
Sporting Events
Being a Big Ten school, we also have sporting events going on all the time. If you go to fightingillini.com you can find all the schedules for our sports teams. All you have to do is put on your orange and blue and support your team!
Movie
Throw it back to high school and get dinner and a movie with your friends! There are multiple movie theaters in Champaign and Urbana, so just find a movie you want to see and you have the perfect chill night planned for you and your friends. If you don’t want to go to one of the movie theaters, you can see movies for free at the Union. You can see what movies are playing on the Illini Union website.
Union Basement
Speaking of the Illini Union, the Union basement has a game room and bowling alley. All of which are available for cheap if you’re a student. There are also discount days where you can bowl and play the games for low prices cheap, so you can’t go wrong.
Ice Skating
You have to go to the ice arena with your friends before you graduate. It is always a fun experience;, even if you spend most of your time clinging to the railing because you haven’t been ice skating since you were six. It’s only $3 for students to skate, so this is a great choice!
ARC and CRCE
We have two awesome rec centers on campus that offer different experiences for a night out. If you are feeling more active you can go to the ARC for rock climbing. Or, if you want something more low key, go to the pool at CRCE, complete with a hot tub and a slide, it’s always a night well spent.
