5 Restaurants to Visit in Chicago This Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois chapter.

Are you staying in the greater Chicago area for this spring break? No worries, there are plenty of restaurants to try without breaking your bank account. Especially if you enjoy unique menu items, trendy locations, and delicious drinks during happy hour, be sure to check out some of the places I have listed below!

1. Young American Bar

This restaurant and bar, conveniently located in Logan Park, is definitely one-of-a-kind. Here you can find CBD-infused drinks, where the CBD replaces the alcohol. The menu is comprised of dark-colored foods and creative drinks. If you love to try spirit-free drinks alongside healthy side dishes, this place is great for you!

2. JoJo’s Milk Bar

Trendy and sweet, JoJo’s Milk Bar is finally coming to Chicago! It is a spinoff of The Milk Bar Bakery in New York; however, this bar will include a full menu beyond simply dessert items. According to their new website, the restaurant’s chef, Christine McCabe, believes her restaurant is the next-generation Milk Bar. If you want to add color to your Instagram profile while attempting to single-handedly devour a massive milkshake, JoJo’s Milk Bar will leave you feeling more than satisfied!

3. Pequod’s Pizza

With a location in Chicago and Morton Grove, Pequod’s Pizza is well-recognized for their “Chicago pizza with caramelized crust” and unbeatable prices. On their website, Pequod’s offers a wonderful lunch special of $4.95 for a personal pizza during the weekdays between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. If you are craving to try savory, mouth-watering pizza, stop by Pequod’s Pizza for a budget-friendly lunch.

4. Farmhouse Chicago

Farmhouse Tavern, located in the River North neighborhood of Chicago, with an additional location in Evanston, fuses a farm theme with undeniably fresh and tasty menu items. Between brunch, lunch, and dinner, this restaurant is college student-friendly and affordable. More details can be found on their website, but much of the food supply at Farmhouse Tavern comes from “locally sourced and sustainable ingredients.”

5. Doc B’s Restaurant + Bar

You can find Doc B’s located in the Gold Coast and River North Chicago. This restaurant and bar offers a variety of food, such as burgers, pizzas, sandwiches and mixed protein bowls. Both locations offer beautiful outdoor seating and modern interior designs. Their core focus is on fresh food items that deliver rich flavor. Popular items include The #1 Tuna Salad, the Brussels Sprout Salad, and Guacamole with Sweet Potato Chips. Regardless of the dishes you order, you can’t go wrong!

Overall, these restaurants are only a few of the many must-try hotspots of Chicago. Staying in the suburbs over spring break isn’t the end of the world, and it doesn’t have to be boring. Sleep well, watch lots of Netflix, and try new foods!
