10 Cute Galentine’s Day Ideas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois chapter.

Not everyone has a significant other; some like to host Galentine’s events for their friends. So why not give some fun ideas and themes for a possible night out or in with your friends?

Charcuterie Night

Divide and conquer; have your friends all bring different types of charcuterie boards. Pop open a glass of your favorite drink and just watch a movie or play music and catch up. You will be able to create different charcuterie boards through an assortment of fruits, nuts, meats, etc.…

Movie Night

Vote on a movie a few days before and bring all your favorite snacks. Have a casual night in or create a whole event out of it. By playing games, creating a presentation night after and even making friends baskets to give each other before the movie starts.

Cake Decorating

Have a love theme cake war where you bake or buy your cakes and decorate them. This could be done in groups within your friends or by yourselves. Everyone can vote on who has the best decorated cake and later eat them while watching movies or just hanging out.

Bar Hopping Night

Who says you can’t have a little fun with your single friends? Hop around local bars, try out different drinks, and be sure to pair up with your friends to ensure they are having fun and staying safe. UIUC students can go out to any of our local bars (Joes, Kam’s, or Red Lion) for a fun night of dancing and meeting new people!

Galentine’s Dinner

Make a reservation or go to a local restaurant with your friends and celebrate the love you have for one another. If you want to, you can always splurge a little, share plates or desserts, and reminisce over old memories.

Brunch

Who doesn’t love a good brunch moment? Go out to the city and have a nice day out and look for good brunch places that match your vibe. Celebrate with your friends and enjoy the atmosphere. (There are some great drag brunch locations in Chicago!)

Game Night

Another exciting idea for a night-in can include a game night! Some fun ideas include playing cards against humanity, loteria, we’re not really strangers, etc.… You can enjoy this night in with cocktails, mocktails, snacks, and a collaborative playlist while you catch up and learn more about each other.

Road Trip

Road trip time! There is always the option for a mini weekend away where you rent out an Airbnb/Hotel and explore somewhere nearby that you always wanted to go. You can create an itinerary of places to go out to eat, drink, and shop. You can do as much or little as you want with your group.

Cocktail Night

Drink your sorrows away and party all you want. Divide and conquer once again and create themes for your drinks. Showcase them to your group and vote on which one is the best!

Night in with the Girls

Go all out and celebrate your friends, while being comfortable! You can create little gifts that you can share with your friends, make charcuterie boards, or cook a yummy dinner. As a way to end the night, you can pick a favorite rom com or do an impromptu karaoke night, paint your nails, or even enjoy a mini spa night.
