Things to do to refresh yourself during spring break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois State chapter.

With this week being the last week of school until spring break for Illinois State University students, things are starting to pick up the pace. Midterms are starting, spring is coming and, before we know it, graduation.

As a senior, I’ve had many spring breaks but this one seems to be different. There seems to be a sense of urgency in the air. As though I only have a week (spring break) to get my entire life together. I have to figure out what I’m wearing to graduation, who in my family is coming, how I’m moving out of my apartment and so much more.

With all that on my mind, I’ve come to the conclusion that I want to take some time for myself this spring break. That being said, here are five things you can do to help refresh and re-energize yourselves during spring break:

  1. Shopping spree

I will personally be doing this literally the day I get home for break. Even if I don’t have that much money in the good ol’ bank account right now, I’ll be shopping around for a nice dress for my sorority’s formal, a graduation dress and a dress for my sorority’s founder’s day. Just the idea of going shopping is already releasing so much stress.

  1. Facial

Facials are literally the bomb dot com. I can think of nothing more relaxing than going and laying down for an hour and having someone *professionally* fix your skin. I have a few problem areas, so I will 100% be doing this sometime during my week of re-energizing.

  1. Massage

Just adding on to the self-care list, getting a massage is something I’ve been wanting to do for so long. And again, laying down and basically falling asleep while someone gets all the knots out of your back just seems like the best thing to ever happen. I’ve heard such good things about massages, too, and how they not only relieve stress, but also make you feel more at peace and relaxed.

  1. Journal

I do this anyway at school but I feel like spring break would be a great time to just catch yourself up on journaling. It’s helped me a lot this past semester to keep all my thoughts in one place and to rant about someone or something, without having to involve a third party. Spring break would be a good time to reflect on not only the first half of the semester—or just the past however many years of college you’ve had go by.

  1. Spend time with the people you love

I’m very excited for this one. I haven’t been home a lot recently so I’ll be able to see my best friend, my boyfriend and my nephew while I’m home. Just being able to see them and be around them for an entire week is going to be so refreshing for me.

After doing all these activities, I hope you can feel a little less stressed. Hopefully these last few weeks of school will go by with no issues and all the stress of being a senior will be alleviated.
