As the end to 2020 is fast approaching, so is finals week! I think we can all agree that we hope the next few months brings about quite a bit of change and relaxation, considering that this year has certainly brought all kinds of unprecedented stress to our lives. However, a few things that will hopefully stay constant though the holiday season are our collective wishes for good grades and finding the perfect skin care routine! Here are a few pointers to combat your finals week stress breakouts.

Makeup wipes are a girl’s bestfriend

Personally, I can’t even count the number of times a simple makeup wipe has come in handy in so many situations of my day. This staple hygiene product is the start to any thorough skin care regimen. If you don’t already, I would suggest keeping a pack of makeup wipes in your car, backpack, or purse to supply your touch-up needs and keep your skin clean and fresh all day!

Heavily scented facial products are a no-go

I’m sure we all are immediately intrigued by holiday scents like peppermint and pumpkin spice, but when it comes to facial cleansers and moisturizers it’s a good choice to steer clear of these products. The skin on your face is much more sensitive and exposed in comparison to the rest of your body, and strong fragrances in facial products tend to irritate the skin and can cause unpleasant reactions. Luckily, your skin doesn’t need any fancy products to keep it looking fresh and glowy! Just stick to a basic cleanser and a hydrating moisturizer, and you’ll be all set this holiday season.

Add some color correcting products to your makeup routine

Color correctors have easily become one of my favorite essentials in my makeup bag, and happen to be especially convenient during times such as finals week to keep stress-breakouts at bay. Color correcting makeup comes in a palette of colors such as purple, green and yellow, which are used to cancel out unwanted imperfections such as blemishes and under eye circles before following up with concealer or foundation. Adding this cost-effective product to your makeup routine will give you a flawless, finished look while reducing the amount of coverage you will need to apply.

Hydrate!

It’s no secret that hydration is essential in several ways when it comes to skin care. Drinking enough water to fuel and cleanse your body is just as important as maintaining a hydrating, and refreshing facial moisturizing routine. Be sure to use your moisturizer right after washing your face, after showering and before applying your makeup for the day. Truthfully, there’s never a bad time to give your skin a refreshing boost, but most professionals suggest sticking to a routine that allows you to moisturize about twice a day.

Keep it simple and consistent

The key to your perfect skin care routine is consistency. Finding what works for you and your skin can be a process of trial and error, and the truth is that every skin type needs different products and care tactics. Use these basic tips as a starting point to discover new ways to make your already beautiful skin glow!
