Braziers– whether they are a necessary under garment or just an annoying restraint to second base, a bra can be a woman’s most important piece of clothing. Since bras are vital to women’s lives, we should know the steps to finding the right one, how to find quality bras, where to get fitted and the different types.

First, get fitted. Being fit for your right size bra is the first step in finding the perfect one for your size body. Most lingerie stores or women’s store are happy to assist you in this step. Fittings are almost always free and they only take a minute. If you do not feel comfortable having a stranger measure you, you can always do it yourself! Use a tape measure to measure yourself directly under your chest- this determines your band size. Then measure across the widest part of your chest to determine your cup size. Each inch above your band size is an increase in cup size.

Decide what you want to wear the bra under. Will you be wearing a deep v-neck? A regular t-shirt? Or a tank top? Whatever you choose to wear over your bra determines the type of bra you should purchase. A bra is meant to be foundational support to make your body and clothes look the best they can. Different types of bras to look into include push-up, full coverage, adhesive, strapless, racer-back, bandeau, convertible,
full support, soft cup and sports bras. Also, pick a color you think you will like for awhile.

Try it on and then buy that sucker! Make sure you fit comfortably in your bra before you purchase it. It is said that you should be able to fit only two fingers between the band and your skin. Also, check out your profile in the mirror and see how it looks. If the bra is not comfortable, try on many before you know it’s the right one.

Take care of it and know when to get a new one. Sorry to break it to you but hand washing is not always efficient. Connect bra hooks together before washing and obtain a lingerie bag or mesh fabric bag. Always be extra careful with lace and satin. Then, return to step one when you no longer fit in your bra, when your bra seems worn out, when you’re not comfortable in it or your just want to spice things up with a different bra.
