Life for the past few weeks has been anything but normal. COVID-19 has disrupted almost everyone’s daily routine and has forced us to put a pause on just about everything. For a lot of us, our newest challenge is simply staying home and fighting off cabin fever. In hindsight, this is not a hard challenge to have, but to some, it is a challenge none the less. To help you from getting a little stir crazy inside, here are some ways to stay busy and productive while quarantining.

1. Clean out your phone

Delete any apps you no longer use. Go through your social media and unfollow unnecessary content, or go to town on clearing out your overwhelmingly full email inbox.

2. Learn a new hobby

For a lot of us, this is the most downtime we’ll have for a long time. Learn a skill you’ve always wanted to do but could never find the time for like cooking, baking, embroidery, painting, photography…the list goes on and on!

3. DIY Craft

Pinterest has a huge variety of easy and fun DIY crafts that you can do on your own. Make some cute room decor or repurpose old clothes/furniture.

4. Go outside

You’re not on house arrest! Going outside once or twice a day is a nice reminder that the world outside your home is still going on. You can go for a walk with your family, run, or even sit and read.

5. Work on yourself

You’re at home! Leave your hair natural, wear no makeup, find a fun workout routine, or start that diet you’ve been holding off. When the quarantine is over and everyone comes out from hiding, you’ll be glowing!

6. Deep clean

Put on a podcast or movie and get to work! Clean out your closet and toss any old clothes you don’t need in a bag for goodwill. Wipe down and dust your furniture, organize your drawer full of junk, and create a space that you feel happy and comfortable to stay in.

7. Love on your furry friends

Pets are living the dream right now having their people home 24/7. Take them outside or spend some extra time with them to brighten both of your moods!

8. Binge-watch/read

Get your comfy pants on and get out the long list you have of TV shows or books you’ve been wanting to start, you have plenty of time to finish it!

9. Do something crazy!!

If the boredom starts to really hit you, dye your hair a crazy temporary color or play around with different makeup looks, you have no one to see for a while!

10. Stay off your phone

While it’s important to stay informed on the latest updates with COVID-19, don’t let it consume you. Too much time on social media is never a good thing, especially during this time.

Staying home is the best thing you can do for yourself and those around you. If you’re fortunate enough to have your biggest worry be becoming too bored at home, try to make the most of it! For now, remember that we will get through this and that one day everything will return to normal.
