Selena Gomez showcased her kidney transplant scars this past weekend and her message was eye opening. She told Billboard “When I look at my body now, I just see life, there are a million things I can do…but I OK with it.

Her donor and best friend, Francia Raísa, was also her perfect match. She recently opened up about her own scars from the transplant and the depression both woman developed. It was very hard recovery and a life threatening surgery to tell the entire world, so not talking about it for a couple months kept them feeling normal.

Raísa explained how her scars do not define her. “My scars tell my story. And so I really appreciate these scars because they honestly changed my life,” she said.

Life came into perspective for these best friends who proudly show off their scars to embrace their story. They are both living healthier lives and will let nothing impact their happiness.
