The Perfect Playlist for Your Next Self Care Night, as Curated by TESSA

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois State chapter.

TESSA bares all and embraces a more raw and unfiltered version of herself. FKA Hoodlem, she reveals her desire to be more herself as an artist. Her career has begun a fresh phase. We’re witnessing TESSA at her core.

[Listen now: “Bad Bad Love” – TESSA]

Under Hoodlem, she shot to fame with her track “Old Friend“, which earned international acclaim. Her popularity grew throughout the years. The FADER praised her “piercing take on an irreparable relationships”. She went on to perform with Majestic Casual in Berlin. Additionally, she teamed up with Saint WKND for “Golden” — and the collaboration has hit over 4 million streams on Spotify.

The Australian singer-songwriter is letting go of the alter ego and all to showcase her best self through her music. She releases “Bad Bad Love” as she starts this new stage of her career. Her new single goes against your typical love song. It’s an upbeat and sassy reflection on a new fling that makes you wonder if it’s right. TESSA is joined by her friend Terrell Morris, which provides a great narrative from both sides of the relationship.

As TESSA explained, “I want it to encourage people not to take that early phase date shit too seriously and shake off what isn’t for you, no time wasting necessary.”

Be nice to yourself. Choose you and love you some more. With that, TESSA curated the best playlist to listen to when you need a lil’ self-loving.
