Normal Haunted Trail

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois State chapter.

Ready to get scared? I’m sure you’ve never seen the Constitution Trail like this before! Round up your closest friends and get ready for some thrills and chills on a haunted walk through the woods!

The Haunted Trail in Normal started in 2008 and runs for two weekends during October. There is only a $1 dollar charge per person, and there are two types of walks offered: scary and non-scary (for small children). The non-scary walks take place on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The scary trail usually takes place the following weekend on Friday and Saturday from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. This will be the last weekend to participate in the haunted trail, so if you’re brave enough to take on the challenge, head to the Normal City Hall Annex, which is located at 100 E. Phoenix Avenue. The scary stuff happens after crossing Vernon Avenue, right when you head under the big spooky sign!

Spooky effects include sound effects, light effects, and even some scary creatures! Strobe lights will be used, so individuals sensitive to them may not want to take a walk down the Haunted Trail. Also, once the trail reaches its maximum capacity at 1,600 people, it will close. After brave souls finish their trail walk, hot chocolate and transportation back to the Normal City Hall Annex will be provided.

You don’t want to miss this spooky Halloween event and a chance to support the Normal community! Let us here at HerCampus know how it goes…if you manage to make it to the end…
