The Netflix Original “Bodyguard” is a Must Watch This Christmas Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois State chapter.

With winter break coming up for most students it is the perfect time of year to catch up on some good TV. The Netflix original series Bodyguard should be at the top of your list. With only one season of 6 episodes, it will be a breeze to get through. Each episode is over an hour long but the time flies when watching because of the intensity of the show.

Sgt. David Budd is back from war and has a new assignment of protecting the UK Home Secretary. Little did he know that he is one of the most hated people in the country. He quickly finds that he disagrees with the Home Secretaries policies but is determined to do his job properly. Sgt. Budd is also a professional when it comes to stopping terrorist attacks which are on the rise in the UK at the time.

The very first episode is my favorite because it introduces all of the characters and is intense to watch. I did not know going into it how real the show would be. The description they give of terrorism is very scary to capture because it is real in the world today.

The show is action-packed and depicts events that could one day come true. Of course, there is a forbidden romance thrown in there like most storylines. If you want to be on the edge of your toes and shocked by surprises around every corner watch Bodyguard. There is still a buzz about the filming of a season 2 which would be out next year if it gets accepted. So why not catch up now to be ready for the next season? It’s a quick watch that will help winter break fly by.

If you’re still not convinced just look at the guy that plays David Budd, Richard Madden. The Scottish actor does an amazing job of showing how war can mentally hurt soldiers for years to come after returning home. One look at him and you’ll be tuning in on the regular.
