Look great while you get fit

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois State chapter.

Working out. Pumping iron. Getting big… or should I say getting small? It not something everyone loves to do, but with spring break bodies on everyone’s minds, we don’t have much of a choice. Here are a few tips on how to look good when you are working up a sweat at the Rec over these next few weeks.

Dress comfortably.

If you’re on the elliptical and your shorts are riding up or your sports bra is too tight, you won’t look good or feel good. A 100% cotton T-shirt will get soaking wet quickly and will stay wet. As a result, you’ll be uncomfortable and may be tempted to cut your workout short, according to WebMD.

Tie your hair back.
The less hair you have on your neck, the less you will sweat. Don’t be one of those girls that attempts to run with her hair down and curled. A tight headband can do wonders!

Go with the natural look.
Make-up at the Rec is a no-no. It will just melt off your face anyway. Go with a fresh look. Use a tinted moisturizer and tinted lip balm to add a bit of color to your face if you’d like to look more feminine.

Get the (most comfortable) newest kicks.
If you are wearing the latest running shoes in hot pink to match your favorite yoga pants, you’ll feel great about the looks you get from the cute boys on the weight machines.

Bring a sweat rag and a water bottle.
Let’s face it; we all sweat when we are spending an hour on the treadmill running like hamsters on a wheel. Bring a small washcloth to use to dab the sweat off of your forehead. Don’t forget a water bottle! It’s easier to grab a sip from your water bottle than to jump on and off your machine to run to the water fountain.

Less is more.
Take off your bling-bling. It’s really not necessary to workout with a ton of rings and restricting necklaces. Pack a separate bag to store your sunglasses and jewelry. Period.

The right outfit can improve your workout as well as your attitude towards working out. Use these tips as a guide to looking your best when you are feeling your worst!
