Over the summer I had to keep myself occupied, with no job and essentially no car, home crafts kept me busy. Through the different blogs that I have followed I came across a few to which inspired me greatly! Sometimes designers will have an item that is a must have in your wardrobe but the cost of such a piece makes you shudder. D.I.Y’s to the rescue, many items can be recreated and look like the real thing, who doesn’t want that?

Honestlywtf has a plethora of projects that will certainly keep you busy and will look good in your wardrobe. These pieces are without a doubt unique and will have many wondering where you got them from. For example there was a Braided hex nut bracelet that I wanted to try, I  headed to Home Depot and Wal-Mart to acquire my items and hours later I came up with my first bracelet! Don’t let the hours later stop you from making this bracelet; everyone is different on following instructions. I looked at the picture and went for it which led to frustration and a few unmentionable words but hey, I got it. I ended up making five of these bracelets and giving some to family members and friends to which they loved. Head here!

Chictopia is a site where fashion lovers from all over document their style, give advice, and get inspired. After surfing the web awhile back I stumbled upon a D.I.Y. that I found to be absolutely edgy. Shredded shirts were a trend that I saw riddled all over fashion blogs and with me being curious and all, I tried it. My first try, I believe was a success I didn’t exactly follow any sort of instructions I just started tearing and cutting. I grabbed an older shirt that I got from Forever 21 and proceeded to cut holes in the back of it resembling a skeleton face. Not quite like the D.I.Y. from Chictopia but certainly along the same lines. I adore the shirt so much, it makes whatever I am wearing edgy and daring when paired with the right items. Besides the shirt they have tons of ideas that one can try with simple items around you. Check it out!

I SPY DIY, this blog looks at trends and makes them easier for you to recreate. I haven’t tried anything from this site as of yet but it is on my list such as the Ombre shirt worn by Kanye West at the VMA’s. Ombre has been seen on hair, shorts and now shirts. It is essentially dip dying an article of clothing into any color of your choice. I dip dyed some shorts that I bought from the thrift store and they turned out great! These pieces are certainly one of a kind, which I love. Not only does this blog offer their own D.I.Y’s there are other blogs that can give you ideas as well. Visit.

Don’t let D.I.Y’s intimidate you! These projects are such a learning process for you because it is a challenge but after you are done you will feel accomplished and proud of your work. So take some time out of your busy schedule to browse through these sites, try a project out and wear it proudly. Good luck ladies!
