This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois State chapter and does not reflect the views of Her Campus.
Katie Sall is the type of person who can make the whole room light up with her smile. She is the sweetest, weirdest (in a good way) and kind hearted person you can ever cross paths with. I have no idea how she does it but she manages balancing the Academic Honors Program, being President of Delta Zeta and an active social life. She is the definition of a person who puts others before herself and without a doubt has a heart too big for her body. Meeting her this year at ISU was a true blessing. If you see her around don’t hesitate to say hi she’s one of the friendliest people out there.

Her Campus ISU: What is one of your favorite things about ISU?
Â
Katie Sall: Iâm sorry I have two because I am insanely indecisive. One would have to be the sunsets here.Â
Â
Even though BloNo is flatter than my chest was at 12 years old and the corn fields can be boringÂ
Â
sometimes, I am mesmerized by how open and clear the horizon is when the sun sets. If you want toÂ
Â
watch a great sunset go to the top of Watterson and I promise it wonât disappoint. The second thingÂ
Â
would have to be that I can get anywhere on campus in at least 10 minutes. I love that ISU is small,Â
Â
clean, and simple. I like simplicity.Â
Â
Â
HC ISU: What are you involved in on campus?
Â
Katie: I am a member of the Honors Program and the newly elected president of the Delta Zeta sororityÂ
Â
on campus. These two in combination with one another keep me super busy with schoolwork andÂ
Â
sorority shenanigans, but they have made my first year here so rewarding. I canât wait to continue to getÂ
Â
involved throughout my Redbird career.Â
Â
Â
HC ISU: What are your plans for summer once you make it through the deadly finals week?
Â
Katie: Well, I will be returning to my glorious and extravagant job as a summer camp counselor. WhatÂ
Â
better way to spend my days than with a million children tackling me and tattling on one another forÂ
Â
absurd things? I love them though. Itâs entertaining and most of the time theyâre adorable. Other thanÂ
Â
that, I love festivals and concerts, so youâll see me at Country Thunder and (hopefully) Lollapalooza asÂ
Â
well (even though nothing will ever out-do Eminemâs performance last summer, God bless Shady).Â
Â
Â
HC ISU: Do you have a bucket list? Whatâs on it?
Â
Katie: I have a non-existent bucket list. As in, Iâll say things are âon my bucket listâ but I donât actuallyÂ
Â
have a piece of paper where I write them down. Some things on it are: to see the Cubs win a worldÂ
Â
series, to visit McGeeâs Pub in New York (the bar that inspired McLarenâs on How I Met Your Mother),Â
Â
and to have something of mine published⊠somewhere.Â
Â
Â
HC ISU: How would you classify your style?
Â
Katie: Very simple, kind of bohemian, and a lot of comfortable. I have an obsessive love for TargetâsÂ
Â
clothes and accessories because theyâre affordable and classic. I try to make my outfits look like I didnâtÂ
Â
try that hard⊠if that makes sense.Â
Â
Â
HC ISU: Whatâs your biggest pet peeve?
Â
Katie: Oh. Easy. When I can hear, see, or sense somebody chewing, eating, or slurping in my vicinity.Â
Â
My mother actually thinks I have a condition called Misophonia because I can get seriously angry aboutÂ
Â
it. She saw it on Dr. Phil once. A teenage girl punched her mother in the face for chewing too loudly! IÂ
Â
mean⊠I have left my dinner table at home, but Iâm not THAT bad. Itâs kind of ridiculous actually, butÂ
Â
I just canât stand it.
Â
Â
HC ISU: What do you look for in a guy?
Â
Katie: It seems as though I have a pattern for liking brown-haired, brown-eyed boys who work at pizzaÂ
Â
places. This is entirely coincidental; I donât look for those things. What I do look for is someone who isÂ
Â
funny with a splash of sarcasm, has a mature sense of loyalty, and can take my mind to deeper levels andÂ
Â
new places. Iâd like to be with someone who challenges me to be a better person in every aspect. Also itÂ
Â
would be nice if they like the same music as me because that makes everything better.Â
Â
Â
HC ISU: Tell us something not many people know about you.
Â
Katie: My real name is Kathryn. My parents have never called me Kathryn, but itâs my real name.Â
Â
Katie is cool though. Uhh, I figure skated for 11 years. Yes, I could do âjumpyâ and âspinnyâ thingsÂ
Â
(laughs).Â
Â
Â
HC ISU: What is the first attribute you look for when youâre first meeting a guy?
Â
Katie: I know this is weird, but I pay such close attention to a guyâs grammar when first starting toÂ
Â
talk/text them. Maybe itâs the English major in me, but I think it can say a lot about the person. RightÂ
Â
off the bat I think honesty is crucial too.Â
Â
Â
HC ISU: Biggest turn off? (Deal breaker)
Â
Katie: A deal breaker is when a guyâs ego is bigger than his (you know what). I canât stand when peopleÂ
Â
only perceive life through their lens. If youâre selfish, always have to be right, and donât have an openÂ
Â
mind? Sorry, canât do it.Â
Â
Â
HC ISU: Biggest turn on? (Prince Charming)
Â
Katie: A guy who is passionate and shows his emotions. The âtoo toughâ attitude is not something IâmÂ
Â
fond of, and I adore when a guy can show how heâs feeling without being afraid.Â
Â
Â
HC ISU: What is your opinion on the squirrels on the quad?
Â
Katie: I would like to be reincarnated as one. I spotted one continuously jump on a branch, sway up andÂ
Â
down, and fly off – over and over and over again. The thing was having so much fun and I thought toÂ
Â
myself, â what a beautifully free rodent.â Theyâre awesome in my book.Â
Â
Â
HC ISU: Favorite Show on Netflix?
Â
Katie: In order: The Office. American Horror Story. Gossip Girl.Â
Â
Â
HCISU: Whatâs your favorite 90âs jam?
Â
Katie: Any song by Britney Spears, The Backstreet Boys, or âN SYNC will get me going.Â
Â
Â
HC ISU: Ideal Date?Â
Â
Katie: An adventurous hike up a mountain on a beautiful day. At the top, a cute little picnic with peanutÂ
Â
butter and jelly sandwiches. Then, enjoying the view of nature each otherâs company.
