As an avid lover of Harry Styles, I could not contain my excitement regarding his out-of-nowhere announcement regarding his upcoming album, Harry’s House, set to be released on May 20. With my luck, of course, I was still asleep when my phone was blowing up and I instantly had to FaceTime my mom crying because I was so overrun with emotions.

On April 1, Styles released the first single from the upcoming album, titled “As it Was.” Being the dedicated fan I am, I had my two close Harry-Styles-fan friends join me at my apartment so we could all watch and cry together when the music video and song dropped. And believe me, there were many tears.

First, as I watched and listened to the music video for the first time, I believe I blacked out. If it wasn’t for a video that I was taking, I don’t think I would’ve remembered my many comments regarding how attractive he looked and how I just absolutely lost it during the second verse (totally not comprehending the lyrics). Once it was finished for the first time, there was a solid 10 seconds of silence as the three of us just stared at the TV not knowing what to say. Eventually, one of us broke it by saying something along the lines of it being so good and emotional sobs.

Next, we had to watch it again just to take in more details and witness the amazingness that the video brought us again. Watching it for a second time, the three of us felt the need to add commentary throughout the entire video, such as “I need that part to be my new lock screen,” “That girl is really good at acting because I would be bursting into tears,” “This part makes me feel like I am on drugs” and “Can we recreate these outfits and make them our Halloween costumes this year?” Eventually, I had to call my mom sobbing, which is nothing new to her at this point in my life. As I cried to her on the phone for roughly four minutes, I then proceeded to go through Twitter to see everyone else’s reactions and theories regarding the lyrics and video.

Overall, this video once again proved that Harry Styles will constantly outdo himself and that everything he does is art. This song, with the success that it has had within the first week of being out, proves that Styles is an unmatched artist and will be taking over the charts (and my life once again) next month when Harry’s House finally drops.
