Halloween Must-Watch Movies: Nostalgia Edition

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois State chapter.

With Halloween approaching, some throwback movie recommendations are a must! If you’re like me, someone who is not into horror, these movies are for you!

Halloweentown

This movie is always my number one go-to during the Halloween season. It’s always been my favorite movie because it is so unlike any other Halloween movie. As a kid, it was so cool to think of a world outside of mine and to see the journey of Marnie and her siblings. I also love that there are three other movies in addition to the first Halloweentown—perfect for keeping me entertained all season long.

Hocus Pocus

Hocus Pocus is a 1993 Halloween classic that tells the story of a boy named Max accidentally freeing a coven of evil witches. It features a good amount of comedy for those who enjoy a laugh.

Twitches

Twitches follows teen witch sisters who become reunited on their 21st birthday. Unbeknownst to them, they have magic and have to learn how to use it in order to save their family and a kingdom in another land from the forces of darkness. If you like the first movie, check out the sequel: Twitches Too.

My Mom’s Got A date with a vampire

This movie was originally aired on Disney Channel and the title is the whole plot of the movie. A single mom goes on a date with a vampire, and her children have to find a way to let her know, which is difficult considering they’re grounded!

The Little vampire

The Little Vampire tells the story of a young boy named Tony who is struggling to fit in at his new school. His only friend is a kid vampire named Rudolph. When vampire hunters are threatening the vampire race, Tony has to find the courage to save his friend.

I hope you enjoyed these five, classic Halloween movie recommendations.

So, what are you waiting for? Grab some popcorn and have yourself a Halloween movie marathon!
