Five at-home exercises

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois State chapter.

Need to work out but not much of a gym go-er? No worries! Here are some popular at home workouts that might be just what you need!

Insanity: This at home work out could not have a better name because it truly is insane! It is a 60 day total body conditioning program, which has been proven to give people the “perfect beach body.” Personal trainer Shaun T is in each of the 10 workout DVD’s available, which focus on different parts of your body. Each workout DVD is between 35 and 45 minutes long which are great for students who don’t have a lot of time to spend working out!

P90X: This workout is similar to Insanity. It is a 90 day long workout plan which consist of 12 workout DVD’s. In addition, personal trainer and P90X creator Tony Horton helps you get your “perfect beach body” by setting up a fitness guide and nutrition plan for you. For this at home workout, you may need to purchase a few pieces of equipment in addition to the DVD’s.

LaBlast: This dance based workout was created by “Dancing With The Stars” choreographer Louis Van Amstel. It incorporates elements from several types of dance, including: Disco, Jive, Merengue, Salsa, and more. LaBlast is designed for all levels of dancers from the beginners to the more advanced. It is a great workout for those who don’t like to do the typical jumping jacks and crunches. There are five at home DVD’s to choose from.

Dancing With The Stars dance DVD’s: DWTS dance DVD’s are similar to LaBlast’s DVD’s. If you need a high energy workout and love to dance, then this workout is for you. These work outs are high intensity and full of cardio. It’s a great way to work every part of your body at once. There are several DVD’s to choose from which all feature DWTS’s choreographers. They are extremely inexpensive and can be found at most nearby stores.

Magazines: Cosmo, Women’s Health, and Good Housekeeping are three magazines that always have great articles on at home workouts. The best part is you don’t even have to purchase the magazines to see the workouts, you can just go online! They each have a variety of workouts for each part of your body. A good idea is to either tear the articles out of the magazines, or print them from online, and keep them in a folder or binder so you can reuse them!
