With the Fall season coming in full swing, girls around campus are starting to change up their wardrobe. Out with the high-waisted shorts, crops tops, and flip flops, in with the leggings, jackets, and boots. As young ladies, most of us are usually flipping through magazines trying to find the hottest trends for fall. Have you ever stopped to think if that trend is appealing to the male eye? After asking random male students on campus the question of “what trend do you hate the most that girls wear during the fall”, I got some extremely surprising answers. The top five hated trends for Fall, according to guys, are:

1. Uggs

Ugg boots were on the top of the list for the least favorite trend. Multiple guys said that “Ugg boots look cheap”. They must not know that Ugg boots are over $100! Guys also said that they don’t understand how Ugg boots keep our feet warm.  Uggs are known as the go-to boot by nearly every female on campus. To us, they are stylish and comfortable. To guys, they are obviously not cute and one of the worst trends we follow. One male student on campus even stated: “They look so childish! Step it up and get some real boots”.

2. Leggings

You are probably just as surprised as I was. Leggings are worn by females across campus as if they are the greatest gift from the fashion gods (which they are), but guys don’t approve of them. Correction: guys don’t like your old pair of leggings that you have owned for a while now. One gentleman said “We can tell when your leggings are old, ladies! They sag by your knees and look gross”.  Maybe it’s time for some new leggings, girls.

3. Baseball hats

I feel that baseball hats are a trend that females are just starting to get into. It wasn’t until last year that I noticed more girls were wearing baseball hats around campus. Guys aren’t too fond of the new baseball hat trend that has swept across ISU. One said that, “When girls wear baseball hats, it makes it seem like they didn’t wash their hair”.  One student tried to make it a bit better by saying, “I don’t understand why girls wear hats. I just don’t see why girls have to feel like they should hide their face when everyone’s looking for a smile”. What a sweetheart!

4. Oversized Sweatshirts

Your boyfriend’s oversized sweatshirt that you find so comfortable? Yeah, it’s not cute to your male classmates. “It’s not appealing to wear a sweatshirt that you drown in,” says one of my guy friends. Oversized sweatshirts are great during the fall, because they keep you warm when you don’t want to wear an actual jacket. Guys don’t understand this, and they think that oversized sweatshirts are “something their grandma would wear”.

5. Rain boots

I wasn’t too surprised when I got rain boots as one of the top answers. I personally have never gotten on the rain boot bandwagon, but many girls on campus have. Hunter boots can now be spotted in nearly every classroom at ISU. Girls love them, but guys do not. “Some girls can’t pull off rain boots. They look tacky”, said one gentleman. While girls think that Hunter boots are preppy, guys think they are “manly” and “need to stay in the closet”.
