Her Campus Illinois State: Where can we find you on the weekend?Carly Johnson: Probably sitting on my couch watching breaking bad with my roommates, drinking wine (but non-alcoholic). And on Wednesdays you can find me at the Pub (but before 7:00 ☺)
HC ISU: Who is your role model?CJ: My role model would have to be my papa Leroy. He has always been such a great influence on me. He has lead me down the path to my future legal career. He was very involved in the Chicago public schools, and always wanted to help others, while maintaining his career as a chief sheriff for Cook County.
HC ISU: Wait, you’re only 20 and graduating in December, how is that possible? Are you really smart?CJ: Actually I’m completely normal. I ended up graduating high school in 3 years because I had enough credits and my options were to stay and go to CLC (community college), or go away to ISU. Now I’m graduating college in 3.5 years because I’m so excited to begin my legal career.
HC ISU: You say you want to pursue a legal career but you’re a marketing major?CJ: When I entered college at such a young age (17 years old), I never thought law school was in reach so I decided to major in my second favorite thing; marketing, specifically sales.
HC ISU: Was it hard being so young and in college?CJ: Actually it wasn’t very hard. As soon as I started school I got as involved as I possibly could. I joined Zeta Tau Alpha, as well various honors societies and clubs, including the hot sauce club. This really made ISU have a small campus feel to me.
HC ISU: How did your friends feel about you leaving high school before senior year?CJ: I would like to think that they were sad about me leaving so early! We did have some great times in the 3 years that I was there. We made life long memories, but soon enough we’ll all be back together. (In 1.5 years)
HC ISU: Well, since you want to be a lawyer, do you know where/when you’re going to law school?CJ: Funny question, I have been accepted to every law school I’ve applied to. Including: Kent, John Marshall, and Depaul. Depending on where I choose is when I will start, either in January 2015 or fall of 2015.
HC ISU: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?CJ: Hopefully working for a large law firm in Chicago, practicing intellectual property and entertainment law.
HC ISU: What’s your best memory at ISUCJ: Bid night 2011, enough said.
