For many seniors, starting the spring semester felt like the beginning of the end. As we send in our graduation applications and begin to look for “real world” jobs, it is important to stop and remember where we are. For those of us, like myself, who need help remembering: we are STILL in college. While the end may be near, it is not here yet. So, we need to enjoy what is around us while we still have it.

Something that can help to make the most of our final days is a senior year bucket list. You can create different variations, such as bucket list activities to do with roommates, friends, or significant others. Listed below are ways to take advantage of senior year, BloNo style.

1. Visit every bar in Uptown, Downtown,  or both.

Even if you’re not into the drinking scene, each bar in BloNo is worth visiting at least once. No two bars are alike and some of them have decent food options. You can even see a piece of history at the Pub in the form of Jake from State Farm’s khakis.

2. See a movie at Normal Theater.

Normal Theater is a great hub for movie lovers. The theater is notorious for showing classic films that are fun to see on the big screen. Check out their schedule at the box office or online, and watch a movie the way it was meant to be seen.

3. Meander through University Galleries.

University Galleries, located in Uptown, offers residents a chance to look at local art. The set-up is always changing and there are often shows and lectures presented by artists. It is a great way to enhance culture.

4. Take a walk on Constitution Trail.

While this probably isn’t the most timely suggestion, it is perfect for when spring rolls around. Constitution Trail allows residents to take a tour of beautiful BloNo.

5. Attend a sporting event (other than football).

The athletics department relies on support from students to amplify their sporting events. Many of us turn out for the major football games, including Family Weekend and Homecoming. However, we could stand to show a little more support for other teams. Try out a basketball or baseball game to give your ISU gear another wear.

6. Climb the rock wall at the Rec.

We have been fortunate enough to have a phenomenal space to workout. While many people have utilized the Rec, not a ton of people have taken advantage of the rock climbing wall. Give it a shot! And, if you make it to the top, that can serve as a great metaphor for the last four years of school.

7. Talk to the person you’ve had a crush on the last four years.

We all have someone that we’ve had our eye on at some point during our time at ISU. For many of us, these remaining months may be the last time we see our “person”. Use that to boost your confidence and make your move.
