There are so many ways to become an academic achiever during the next semester of the school year. Having good grades makes me feel good and accomplished, especially from being focused on improving my habits that revolve around school. Whether that’s at the beginning, middle, or end, you can up your school game when it comes to assignments, exams, projects, essays, etc. Aiming to become an academic weapon at the beginning is always best. I have some tips on how to get work done and have a social life, as well as not becoming stressed out in the process.
Taking notes before classÂ
I learned this tip online that really helped me get through class lectures when my teacher is going over the material. I would write the notes out before class and use any color pen; I write in a black pen, and then when my professor goes over, I write down important details that they want me to remember in a different color pen. This helps me more instead of just writing everything down from the slides quickly, as they are going over it and not learning anything. This also helps if you aren’t the type to want to always use the course textbook or can’t afford it.Â
Not ProcrastinatingÂ
When I study, there are times when I go on my phone when I should really be studying. I try to minimize my screen time by not always picking up my phone, even if I’m watching one TikTok video or Instagram reel. I also would put my phone on school mode and in my bag so I could focus on what I need to get done, so I don’t cram all of my work the day before.Â
Working outÂ
It has been proven that working out helps with memory and retaining information. As someone who works out, I would say this does help me personally because I would study and then work out after. It wouldn’t matter what type of workout you do, any would help with memory, improve your focus, and enhance brain health. Also reduces stress and creates healthier habits, which is really good during the semester.Â
Better sleep scheduleÂ
I would say this is very important because having a terrible sleep schedule is not okay, especially during the semester. Whether your semester is busy or you do or don’t have a lot of classes, you need rest to be energized and refreshed in the morning. Getting the full 8 hours the night before an exam really helps your brain with clear thinking and memory. Also helps boost your mood so you don’t feel unmotivated or stressed. I personally feel like getting 8 hours of sleep has helped me achieve my personal academic goals, like the night before an exam.
Study snacksÂ
There are so many snacks that boost memory retention and are great to eat during a study session. I recommend cashews as one because they are good and great for memory and overall brain health. Peanuts, dark chocolate, and cheese really are some natural great boosters to help with studying and making sure what you are reading sticks. There are also certain foods that help with memory if you feel like you aren’t the type to remember certain topics.Â
Study appsÂ
My personal favorite study app is Gizmo, mainly because the app has helped me understand whatever topic I’m going over. Quizlet is also a good app that a lot of people use, which is helpful for most classes, since you can just search up a topic of your course, and a study set is already on there, done by another student. There are other apps like Brainly, Study Fetch, and Quiz AI, etc.Â
With all of this being said, this way during the semester, you can refer to using these simple plans for the new year that don’t require much. These six tips will help you throughout the whole semester, and if not, maybe some if you are familiar with doing most of these already.
