54 Things Every ISU Senior Is Thinking Right Now…

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois State chapter.

Spring graduation is about 2 months away. Let that soak in for a minute….2 MONTHS AWAY! Many seniors are being forced to look forward and think about life after college; panic has officially set in. As the final days begin to come into view, our time here at ISU dwindles down. These are a few things on the brain of a recently realized soon-to-be graduate.

1.     Soon, I will no longer be living with my best friends or 5 steps away from them

2.     Wait…where will I be living?

3.     At home, with mom and dad? After being out of the house for 4 years? Might need to start mentally preparing. Either that or finding a job that pays for relocation, ASAP.

4.     Job. Ugh.

5.     NO, I DON’T KNOW WHAT I’M GOING TO DO AFTER GRADUATION. STOP ASKING.

6.     What do I want to do with my life?

7.     Have I actually learned anything in school?

8.     Why did I pick this major?

9.     Will I be able to find a job?

10.  No, (insert name of mom and dad’s friends or underclassman here). I don’t have a job yet.

11.  Is this the peak of my life?

12.  I feel like a new friend gets engaged every week.

13.  I wonder if I’ll die alone…

14.  This is my last time I’ll ever get to do ____________.

15.  Didn’t I just graduate from high school?

16.  Freshmen have no idea how lucky they are.

17.  I need cheese balls. Now.

18.  Or Watterson. Mashed Potato Bar.

19.  At least I made lifelong friends here.

20.  Wait. Everyone is moving away.

21.  How will I make new friends?

22.  At least Netflix will still be around.

23.  It will still be around…right?

24.  My mom will always be my best friend! She’s not going anywhere.

25.  How am I going to pay for anything…how does anyone right out of college have any money…

26.  Better start working on my resume. And cover letter.

27.  But I’m a senior…I probably should’ve started joining clubs and RSO’s and stuff three years ago when I first got here…

28.  WHY DID I NOT DO MORE INTERNSHIPS?

29.  I don’t have enough on my resume. The other candidates will be way better.

30.  Is it true that a machine reads the first round of job applications?

31.  What if I make it to the interview stage…what do I wear?

32.  I’m going to have so much time to work out and be healthy. It’s a new me.

33.  Wait, I bet my hours will be terrible at my first job.

34.  And I’ll have to learn how to actually cook now…

35.  Any chance my job will start at like 11 a.m.? Like class?

36.  Maybe I’ll just travel the world.

37.  With what money…

38.  WHY DIDN’T THEY TEACH ME ANYTHING ABOUT MONEY OR FINANCES OR INSURANCE OR IMPORTANT LIFE STUFF AT COLLEGE?

39.  Maybe I should just fail so I can stay longer.

40.  OMG, there are only like 10 weekends left until graduation.

41.  I think I’m going to throw up. Actually.

42.  I’m emotionally unstable.

43.  I can’t really make stupid decisions anymore…being in college is no longer an excuse.

44.  Why is every building on campus suddenly the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen?

45.  I need to take more pictures. Why did I not take more pictures?

46.  Well, it’s too late now, might as well make the most of it.

47.  I have to officially do everything important on this campus within the next 80 or so days.

48.  I’m just going to go listen to Taylor Swift now. 22.

49.  I LOVE ISU REDBIRDS FOREVER

50.  I can sleep when I’m dead. I need to take in every moment I have left here.

51.  I need to ride the Bull at Six Strings.

52.  And go to Chasers.

53.  Whatever. Here’s to making the most of what we have left.

54.  Most importantly, I’m never growing up.

*Raises glass to one hell of a college experience…cheers to you, ISU
