With President-Elect Joe Biden transitioning into the White House, we can look forward to the United States rejoining the Paris Climate Accord, Biden resigning orders that former president Barack Obama did but President Trump pushed back, a COVID-19 taskforce and much more that will continue to progress our country in a way millions want to see.

The first 100 days of a presidency are some of the most important, they set the tone for the next fours. While there’s a lot the Biden-Harris administration will have to do to refix the doings of President Trump, here’s what we can look forward to during the Biden-Harris Administration.

COVID-19 response team

Biden has already begun to assemble a coronavirus taskforce made up of actual doctors who will help guide the American people to live safely during the pandemic. More than 240,000 Americans have died due to the incompetence of current leaders refusing to do lockdown orders, having a mask mandate, and taking it seriously. The amount of Americans who have died and contracted COVID-19 never had to be this bad if it was taken seriously from the beginning.

There has been talking Biden would implement a 4-6 week shutdown that would help get the virus under control and not overwhelm hospitals as they are right now again. A 4-6 week lockdown would get it under control, and we would be able to resume our lives as normal as we could. When our leaders take things like this seriously, it helps set the tone for everyone else.

He also plans on rejoining WHO, pushing for immediate COVID-19 relief programs and money for Americans, and releasing a vaccine distribution plan.

Climate Change

Biden is planning on rejoining the Paris Climate Accord and wanting to be an international leader on climate change. He has already notified the United Nations about rejoining.

He wants to start on a climate plan with a proposed clean energy plan, which includes helping the U.S. getting to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

He wants to boost reliance on clean energy, sustainable practices, and help support communities who are disproportionately affected by climate change that he laid out in his environmental justice plan

Healthcare

He would also like to protect and build on the Affordable Care Act by giving Americans more choices, reducing health care costs, and making the healthcare system less complex to navigate.

He wants to lower premiums and extend coverage to more working, low-income Americans, lower costs to improve health outcomes by partnering with the healthcare workforce, and prevent the inflation of prescription drug prices that corporations exploit for more revenue.

Immigration policies

Biden also wants to produce comprehensive immigration legislation that will help create a path to citizenship for the 11 million immigrants without legal U.S. citizenship. It would also help protect and provide a pathway for people known as DREAMers, and pledge to make thr DACA program permanent.

He wants to stop family separation at the U.S.-Mexico border and reunite children with parents, rescind restrictions President Trump put in place on Muslim countries, and reform the U.S. asylum system and treatment at the border.

Repair Alliances

It’s no secret Trump has ruined alliances with his rhetoric. Biden will strive to repair those for the sake of our Democracy and others.

He plans to clean up the messes Trump made and wants to plan an international summit within his first presidency to discuss with other democratic leaders about push back on corruption and authoritarian practices and expanding humans rights.

No presidency is perfect, but Biden’s administration will help push the U.S. that strives for progress, human rights, and a better life for all Americans.
