Diamonds aren’t a girl’s best friend. Dogs are, and here are 18 times they proved how much we really don’t deserve them.

1. When this little fluff ball tried her best to cheer her owner up:

2. When this pup made the entire internet proud by graduating from puppy school:

3. When this rebellious pup just really wanted to be let on the furniture:

Just let the poor thing on the couch, you monsters. Look at that face!

4. When this famous Japanese dog waited for his owner for 11 years:

Hachikō was an Akita who was so devoted to his owner that he waited for him for 11 years after the University of Tokyo professor’s death. Every day, Hachikō would send Hidesamuro Ueno off at the front door and then wait for him to return at a nearby railroad station. Hachikō continued to wait for Ueno even after his death until Hachikō himself died. Every year, his devotion is honored in a ceremony at the railroad station where he used to wait for Ueno, and there was even a statue made in his honor. The movie, “Hachi” is also based on Hachikō’s story.

5. When this German Shephard literally embraced the new member of the family with open arms:

I’m not crying, you’re crying.

6. When this dog took a game of fetch very seriously:

7. When this dog thought the shower was for him/her:

8. When this chocolate lab felt the pain of losing his owner as intensely as any human would:

NAVY Seal Jon Tumilson’s lab walked up to the front of the room on his own and laid down next to his owner’s casket in August of 2011.

9. When this golden retriever made a mess and supported his owner while he cleaned it up:

“It’ll be okay, Dave. I’m here for you.”

10. When this dog showed just how patient pups can be with children:

11. When this golden retriever saved a little boy from a snake:

Brutis became a hero in 2004, when he saved a little boy from a coral snake that was slithering dangerously close to the boy. He suffered a near fatal bite from the snake in the process but survived and was flown to Los Angeles to receive the National Hero Dog award.

12. When this dog got a little too close to a bee: (Spoiler alert: the bee won.)

13. When this dog knew exactly what everyone on this train needed:

This should be a thing every train does for its passengers.

14. When this dog saved her owner from freezing to death when he fell in the snow and broke his neck:

Kelsey stayed with her owner, Bob, for 20 hours until a neighbor noticed him on the ground and called 911. She stayed with him for over 20 hours in temperatures as low as 24 degrees, laying on top of him to keep him warm.

15. When this dog posed all over the city for his/her owner:

16. When this dog went on an Easter egg hunt and was so appreciative of the treats:

17. When this poor little guy just wanted company:

18. Finally, when this dog was all of us after coming home from winter break:
